Sony XS-HF167 6.5'' Component speaker set. Ribbon tweeters :naughty:

I picked these up a while ago and finally got my Mark Antony 4-channel amp to properly power them. I'm going to be installing them sometime this week most likely. Just wondering if anybody had seen or heard these before and what their thoughts were on them. The ribbon tweets are what sold me, they are gonna look so nice molded into my A-Pillers

Wow, those look nothing like the typical Sony car audio products. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit from the anxiety of waiting for a review.

Seriously though... Are you planning to give us a review once you've put them though the paces?

I'll definitely let you know what I think once they are in.

They're gonna be getting about 100W from a Mark Antony 800.4 so they should be very happy.

Also for those interested, I bought them at a Local Shop. On the wall the price was $500 I believe, but since I know the manager of the shop really well, I've spent a ton of money at that shop over a couple years, and he "wanted one of the two sets to go to somebody who would appreciate them" I got them for about $250, and on top of that I had a $150 gift certificate that my girlfriend gave me. So I decided to splurge.

They sounded really good at the shop on their little test wall. They got loud and didn't distort, obviously I didn't really put them through their paces in the middle of their shop, but I gave them a listen. Switching the wall between the Sony's and the really really high end Boston's, I didn't notice a huge difference.

I've been hearing that Sony is starting to pick up a little ground in the car audio field. I don't know if I'd ever trust buying anything Sony due to their past, but I am still interested to see how these work for you.

Beautiful!

Its a real shame they had to put that stupid "Xplod" logo on the dustcap.

I'll definitely let you guys know how they work out, and I'd be glad to do a review for use on any website.

I didn't get as much work done as I would have liked due to a problem with my subwoofer box not fitting in my trunk, so I haven't gotten started on the component installation yet, but I'd say within a week they should be in.

Like I said the midbass are going in my doors in the stock location, but in custom fiberglass pods, and the ribbon tweets are going to be glassed into my a-pillers.

Hmmmmm.. the wife does want to go to Nebraska Diamond and compare more rings, so maybe I can strike a deal with her and make the trip worthwhile for me. Hehehe.

haha wow I completely forgot about this thread, I had these installed for over a year and they are now for sale.

somebody buy them

They sounded great btw. They got really loud and stayed clean, tweeters are insane, there was plenty of midbass. If I had an EQ they would have been even better, but with just the limited stuff I had they were more than what I expected.
