what do you guys think of the ford 460?
i just bought one and want to put it in a fox body mustang i can get the tranny and new springs and such as needed but is the 460 a good motor?
i got it on a steal and only need to replace the oil pump so either way im going to use the motor just wanted to know if it would be good in a fox body

People have put the big block in foxes but that motor weighs a TON compared to the 302 or 4 cylinder that came in the car originally. You would probably be better off to try and get a 351w and build it up strong. The only downfall would be the 351 wouldnt have as much torque. But the weight almost overcomes it especially if you are planning on leaving the stock iron intake (if its carbureted) and iron heads on it.

ill end up building the 460 by the end of the year it puts out about 380hp rite now me and my uncle are going to aim for 700

Throw it in the back seat of the geo and make it a mid eng car, that would be hot yo!

460 is a nice engine, neighbor has one and its pushing 650hp and makes his truck move pretty quick

Nice motors, lots of torque.
Kinda heavy for a Mustang though.

You will be quicker w/ a stroker motor. The 460 is a beast but it is heavy and performance parts are harder to come by. The 460 will make a ton of TQ though. If your just looking for a toy, then build the 460.

honestly i have had 2 fords with 460's. Kinda crappy design imo. But thats ford for ya.. I'd go with a 351 and build that.
