DLS UR6 as a dedicated midbass driver?

I've been trying to narrow down midbasses lately and I just can't. I came up on a set of DLS ur6 mid drivers (not comp set) for $150, used.

I’ve looked at the kicker rmb8’s but they’re too large. I’ve looked at Peerless SLS 7” drivers, but they have a very low Q, and I’m worried I’ll run into the same problem I had before with my Seas driver. I’ve also considered the Dayton RS180, Adire SF7, and a couple others.

So…does anyone have opinions on the DLS ur6 as a DEDICATED midbass? I only need it to play from 70-400hz, and no higher…maybe even lower. My doors are heavily deadened with 2 layers of ensolite in addition to 4 layers of deadener total.

Opinions?

I have had both the ur6 comps and the ir6 comps. In the midbass area they are not killer drivers. They will provide a little "fill" kind of midbass but dont think they are gonna have alot of output if that is what you are after.

DLS is the last place I'd look for a dedicated midbass. But if i were to use any, the IR6 with some good power can be ran down to 50hz no prob and have pretty nice results.

I thought they provided pretty good midbass. I guess I just need to hear some more sets

That is what I am running right now in my kick panels. I love them, plenty of midbass. I am running them of of about 50 watts rms each and they seem to do well but could take alot more I am sure.

I THINK YOUR DRIVING YOURSELF CRAZY and no matter what you get you will second guess, than you will need a new amp HU, NEVER ENDS LOL:suicide:

Just get the Peerless Exclusive 7" and be done with it. There is no way in hell you could be disappointed with them and they will blow away those DLS with ease.

In short, they won't work in the door. I don't feel like writing a paper on everything I tried, but after a weeks' worth of trial & error, and talking to a gy at madisound, that's what I've concluded.
