I have a Kenwood KDC-MP928 HU. As I understand it I can add Satalite radio by getting this device.

SIRIUS SIR-KEN1 Satellite Tuner For Kenwood. around $75 + shipping.

Question -

Is that all I need?
Is SIRIUS a good service?
Would it be difficult to install?

Thanks

What is the hard part? Is it the Antenna instalation? any hints as to what could be difficult.

What would an average instalation for this in a 2002 Dakota?

Thanks

Here is a quiky on the Sat Antenna Install On The Dakota
I just took pix of mine to give you an idea..
Mine is a 1997 but they are **** neer the same..

(1) You will need to clean the roof & A Small Square Of Dbl Sided Tape
If You Dont Use It It Will Scratch the Crap Out Of The Pain..
(Drivers,Passangers,Center)
Any Spot you like Best The Pix Are ON The Drivers Side But I Tend To Instal Them On The Pass Side So You Dont Loose It in A Drive Thru..

(2) Pull Back the Weather Striping from the Truck & Just Tuck the Wire inplace..
Run it down to the kick area & Under The Dash..
(If you Go down The Pass Side You Can Toss The Sat Tuner Under The Carpet or behind the Glovebox.. You may need Power & Ground For The Sat Tuner..

Here Are Some Pix..

Thank you very much, I suppose the Kenwood HU will recognise the tuner and automaticly add it the the source selection.

Thank you very much, I suppose the Kenwood HU will recognise the tuner and automaticly add it the the source selection.

The Sirius tuner, if I'm not mistaken, plugs into the same port that would be used for a Kenwood CD changer (or aux. input depending on your specific usage) and once there is a peripheral attached there it will become part of the options when you're scrolling through your sources via the SRC button or you can direct-access that source with the right remote control (the newer remotes sadly do not have direct source access but I have an older Kenwood "credit card-style" remote that does).

Can't you pick up an aftermarket sirius antenna for the kenwood decks that would be half the price and work the same, if not better?

You need the TUNER part as well, that's the most of the cost. If your antenna goes bad, i suppose that may be an option.

Installed everything this weekend. The Sirus tuner plugs into the kenwood changer port and the IPod agapter plugs into th Sirus tuner pass through. It all works great.

I now have 200 Sirus digital music channels and 80 Gigs of Ipod music all displayed on 4 lines of text on the front of the HU. I am totally convinced I will never put a CD into my HU again. NEVER!.
