View Full Version : 6x9's in a Cutlass

My 85 Cutlass has little room between the magnet of my rear 6x9's and the trunk support bars. Is there a adaptor that will lower the speakers? If not will the RF 6x9 three ways be a good choice? I know they'll fit.

You have 4x10s back there now correct?
There is an adapter but I have never seen it.
Just keep the 4x10s until you set serious about car audio.

the 6 x 9 adapters ****. I had them in my Monte Carlo... If you really want 6 x 9's you could build a baffle on the rear deck and you will need to cut some sheet metal to get them to fit right. Once you get them in there it will be nice.

honestley, take out the whatever you have now in the rear deck, stock is 4x10, leave the holes there for the bass to get through from your subs, front is 4x6 which *****, cut holes in the doors and get some good coaxial or componet 6 1/2 to go there

cosign on the last 2 replies. The cut/components would sound best

You need to cut out the whole rear deck...then build a baffle board out of MDF and put as many 6x9's as it can hold...You should be able to put at least 6 and get you a good 6 pack going....then maybe add a couple of pairs of horns...that should sound sweet.....
