Hey guys, i'm looking for a new component set. And i've noticed that alot of people say that MB Quart is good along with Diamond Audio. Well I came across the MB Quart PCE 216 Component/coaxial set, and I was wondering how well they would perform. I listen to rap and r&b, so i'd like to have some type of midbass. Also I would be running them at 115 watts a piece. If you guys have any experience or insight with these it would be greatly appreciated.

MB Quart speakers sound good but the tweeter is just too much for most to handle, they are very harsh and sharp and hi volumes.

Since it's a component set can I keep the midbasses and just switch the tweeter?? Or should I just go with a completely different component set in the 200 range?

Those are are good speakers, you can't go wrong with them. Best I have found in that price range are Cerwin Vega V-Max 65, or Precision Power 356cs if you like soft domes.

So you think that they can perform well with rap and r&b, and off of 115 watts? Also how well does the midbass perform

They are pretty good all around, not the best midbass though. I heard them next to Polk DB series components, the difference was night and day, the Quarts were in a different league. The Quarts' have very pronounced vocals. I did not know poly cone speakers could sound like that until I heard them.

The power should be fine... I think they are rated around 60 watts RMS? If crossed over at 80 hz they should handle double that.

Sonicelectronix has them rated for 130 rms?? I guess I should check the actual website to be completely sure

My directory says 60 - 130... I suspect the 60 is RMS, 130 is peak power. I would not be afraid to put 115 on them with a high pass crossover.

It's weird because I see it saying 60-130 Rms and Peak being 260. Thats what the crutchfield review was saying  So with my needs you think these speakers will be a keeper??

im looking to buy this exact set also. i've always been a big MB fan. the tweeters are a little harsh for some, but that can be corrected with some eq-ing. for the price, you really cant go wrong.

get them yet?

I've owned them, and ran 200w to them daily. Excellent midbass, clear highs, very defined voices. I suggest biamping them with a 4-channel amp so that you can independently control the mids and highs. They love power, though. They sounded okay on 50w, but on 200w, they just straight up kicked ***.

Ditto. I had the PCE-216's in my old car before I got my Jeep and put in Focal's. I ran about 165 RMS to each side and the Quarts absolutely loved it! It was amazing how loud they would get while staying detailed with zero distortion.
