has anyone done/seen something like this? basically what im thinking is sealing off the trunk from the backseats and then having a blowthrough type box. if this helps you visualize at all, pretend the trunk is a pickup bed and the cabin is the cab. pics would be awesome if you have any.

im doing an install where port and subs are facing into the cabin. somehow im gonna connect the sides of the box to teh frame of the car so no "soundwaves" if u wanna call it that get into the trunk.. and the rear deck is sealed off with some sound dampening i can get some pics up tomorrow.

Also i have seen a rear deck install where the port was going into the rear deck it looked pretty cool..

kinda like all the IB setups where they put the subs on the front part of the trunk(back part of the back seat)... and seal off the trunk

sounds about right

kind of, but there will be an actual box in the trunk. what do you think the benefits would be (if any)? gain it output at all? probably a rise in SQ since you did compare it to an IB setup...??

what i described is kinda like a half assed wall

If it completly sealed off then it will basically sound more off like a hatch

close to the same output?

my guess would be that you would gain quite a few hyper db's.. no serious u might get like 2-3 out of it

someone explained it to me really good but i forgot how they put it. but all the sound pressure is kept inside the cabin instead of having a significant loss inside the trunk..

tomorrow i will post some pics to give you somewhat of an idea of what im doing.. it might spark an idea. Also if i ever do this again i will fo sure use aero ports

right...i wonder how much our systems would be if we could make our vehicles 100% air tight...

actually, i think they use it as a way to take up space too. notice how SPL fans will have NO interior except for a drivers seat, pedals for gas and brake and a steering wheel. the less interior space you have for the compression of air, the better. its kind of like this...what takes less time to fill up? a big truck tire, or a small little honda tire? given that you're using the same compressor and filling to the same psi.

Its just a little foam, just trim it out .......i basically framed it out with 2x4s use the spare tire well just about all the space i could sqeeze out of it.......i competed with that car from 2000-2005 in nspl pro trunk ,beg car501 -...and a few other classes ...it was fun ....but now im building my truck for bass race ....

I had my box built in to the trunk of my car and had it sealed from the trunk which gained me roughly 1.5 db. I ended up doing a 150 and some change with 2 12" Hifonics atlas squares and 1 goliath. the same setup bass raced a 148 and change. But I got pissed off one day and just decided to rip it out. The box wasn't even half way done either.

12's i couldn't make 15's fit.. the part that ****ed me over really was that arch in the rear deck i dunno if u could see it or not but near the wheelwells there is an arch that cuts out about 5 inches in length or i could have went 5 inches longer in the back...
