View Full Version : Rear Deck Speaker Issues...

I've got two 6.5" three-ways in my rear deck, and I'm having an issue with them. They sound distorted because my subwoofers are forcing too much air up into the backs of the speakers. I put dynamat across the top and bottom of the rear deck to keep it from vibrating, and it's now pretty much air-tight...but the rear deck speakers are now vulnerable to the pressure from the subs, and it's really messing with them. If I fade the music to the front, then it doesn't sound distorted, as the speakers in the front doors aren't affected by this.

So the question is...how do I fix this? Should I build a box around the 6.5s to protect them from this? Will that affect the way they sound? Is there something else I can do instead to help?

Thanks in advance!

Well, I tried putting them into similar enclosures, and then the music sounded drowned out. And strangely enough, it was the highs that sounded more drowned out than anything. I don't know if maybe that just provided the three-ways with more bass response or what, but it just didn't work for me.
