I did 12 cubes back when I had the 2 18" MT's. But that box was simple. This one is very challenging.

BJ thanks for the work on this box... the craftsmanship is simply awesome!!!!! and all in 2 days? :) :)

I believe there was 1/8" of clearance when sliding this box into place LOL, whew! almost wasted 6hrs total drive time.

I'll be working on things this week and hope to have the box in place by this weekend. I need to build the filler panels that will go up to the sides and top of the van then lay the carpet on. Not sure where the amps will mount just yet.. maybe in the back if there's room, or I'll inset them into the side of the interior wall of the van with a fan for ventilation.

This box is friggen HUGE :) Net of 20 cubes total and will house (8) 12" TC-1000's

very very nice build.

is that 6 individual ports (3 per side) or 2 (1 per side)?

Piston
04-02-2007, 11:10 AM
The top set of 4 subs has one port and the lower set has one port with dividers in the middle

James Bang
04-02-2007, 11:12 AM
hmmm.. i would assume that the dividers would practically split them into separate ports meaning the port length should change...

but then again, i don't know much about enclosure designing. i'm just curious.

BJ .... u trully are the greatest! On here atleast!

Not only a great builder! Great guy!

Appreciate the assitance (the Porter bits) Just ended up buying some from MLCS.

And the trim bit!!! I LOVE IT!!! I swear..... ALL I really needed was a Jigsaw, Router, a Flush Trim bit, and a straight edge! lol!

I can make rough straight cuts w the Jig, then clean with the trim and a str edge... More work, but still reduced need for table saw.

anyways...

Your so precise!

PowerNaudio did the design, Im sure he took everything into account. Those pieces are actually just braces, they dont split the ports into extra ports persay.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments, I appreciate that. Like I told Garrett when he came to pick it up, This was want of the most fun builds I have done. And watching it go from design to the actual build was pretty cool.

Now comes the tedious part.... building templates for the filler panels. This is the part that took the longest but when a little extra time is taken here it sure pays off!

Finished carpet install, just needs the woodgrain around the port center brace and that part will be done.

Wired and installed the upper 4 subs tonight, tomorrow night I'll do the other if my arms can take it! LOL suckers are HEAVY!!!!

I went ahead and picked up a H701 apline DSP unit so that will have to be installed as well... it never ends!

its actually fuzz from the carpet cutting, it brushes off :)

it didnt show up until the flash of the camera hit it. But there are a few screw holes that need some touching up and then a woodgrain cap that will go from end to end in the center.

Well, it works. The End

LOL man this thing is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never expected it to have this much performance, holy friggen crap!
This box is so well balanced with the type of bass its producing, the extremely low tones hit just as well as the higher tones. It doesnt matter if the doors are open, windows down or whatever... it shakes the *(&$# out of everything.
In the past the boxes I had were finicky, you had to have the window down just right and on the right tune to get the most out of the setup, this setup doesnt give a crap lol. It's by far the best setup I've ever owned.

I'm VERY concerned about the side windows though. They're going to break unless I do something, but what im not sure.

Tomorrow I need to go pick up another battery and after that I'll do another test run with video.

BIG Thanks to PowerNaudio and BJ Fisher for the design and box build.

Oh and... yes it does the "hair trick" just fine LOL

man the system sound sick as hell, by the video it sounds like it pounds pretty hard, now you have to deaden the hell out of that van, just to keep it in one piece, haha.
the hard work and effort i put on the design, seems to have paid off big time.
looking forward to some spl level numbers when you get them. even though it wasnt design to hit some high levels of spl, with that many subs and that much power, its just inavoidable to get a very decent level of spl. lol
again looks great.

Don't let it rush to your head too quickly; ya might get a brainfreeze.

just stating that it took allot of work to get it to the point it is now. it wasn't a 1hour design. piston had to wait almost a week to get the design from me, because i wanted it to be just right. thats why i state it. "the hard work and effort i put on the design, seems to have paid off big time." . if taking pride in my design work and taking it seriously to get them almost perfect, gets me a brain freeze, im not scare of it. haha i didn't meant for it seem like i let it get to my head, like if im was the greatest enclosure designer alive. but if thats how it made you feel. lol. thats your problem.

now back to our regularly unscheduled program.

piston did you get a chance to meter the system?

Not yet, my wire that I ordered didnt come in so I need to wait till thats done before really opening this thing up. Hopefully tomorrow :)

Today I bumped it up a few on the volume and found more area's that need dynamat... namely the entire van :(

I tell ya, the oddest sensation so far in this thing, when its hitting extremely hard it feels like the AC is on. If I start with a 80 degree temp, it starts to feel like its 60 in there... had a couple of ppl experience this. Odd :)

Ty Ty

I'm purely guessing here but I think with the box and all subs its somewhere around 320lbs

I've ordered new springs for the rear, you can definatly tell there's more weight back there... it wasn't exactly setting great 1/4 mile times at the track before LOL

I hope to have it on the TL tomorrow with music. There's a usaci comp this weekend and I may just go see whats what.

RC is one of those timeless things. I thought I outgrew it until I looked at my RS4 and other **** and thought, you kno what? Lemme get these into running condition. Just broke in a rossi .12 this afternoon for the RS4 :D

I always enjoyed playin' in the dirt more lol. I run mostly offroad but have just started doing well in Oval too. Lipo/Brushless is a trip!

Not to pimp my site here, but if you're into RC have a look at www.heartlandrc.com its a site I own/operate for the midwest racing scene.

No haha, I'm an offroad guy as well, but I only race onroad. Popped one of them new traxxas 3.3 engines into my old nitro rustler. Full carbon fiber conversion with battery relocation. Thing is unbelievably fast, and handles unbelievably bad lol

From planning/design to actually driving 6hrs round trip to get it I would say roughly $300.00 which was less than what I had originally thought a box with that design and craftsmanship would cost to build!

lol yea Rustler isnt exactly known for its chassis tuning ability LOL
Right now im working on converting a Ofna CRT Truggy to a 4s Lipo / Brushless setup. There are guys exploding the tires off the rims with this stuff. And managing a 30-45 minute run time :)

Horse crap!! Your not retiring!! Well you can retire from racing thats just another spot I will move up but your still my Mechanic!! LOL

BTW folks I did the video. I have never been around this kind of stereo equipment/power. I about fell over when I heard this..It is loud!! ANd the amazing thing is at normal listening level's its incredible..I thought it would be unbearable no matter what the volume was at.

Now I want some subs and amps LOL

And again PISTON your NOT RETIRING!! I will not let you.

Carry on...:fro: :fro:

Well we just metered it and hit 152.8 @47hz volume at 20 (wanted to play it safe and not hurt anything. I've been up to 23 on the volume before so there's more SPL out of this setup than 152.8

That was on tones though... it wasn't built for that :)

I'm definatly going to the usaci deal this weekend... holy crap!!!!

WOooohoooo :) First competition in ALOT of years and I brough home 1st in Street Beat 4 and Modified 1001-2000 :) Dam good day here!!!!!

I screwed up both runs in SB4 (blew a fuse on first run, shut down early on second) so I averaged at 141.9 but guys saw the meter show 155+ at times. I just need to find the right song and its there!

In SPL I hit 151.8

The difference in the readings from the other day to todays was, the other day's test wasnt a TL meter and todays was. But im extremely happy with the whole setup, couldn't have worked out better!
