do you all have the volume on your head units turned up to? i remember reading in a sticky that it should be 75% but i was just curious to what people actually did

Ive heard that 75% is good and Ive heard that all the way up is the way to go. I would do the 75% as some have said that HU can distort signal at full vol. So as long as you know not to turn it up past that certain point you should be all set. But if you let other people drive you car (kids) it may not be such a great idea.

Are you worried that your CD8445 would clip, bdawson? From the testing I've read, they don't start clipping even in worse case conditions until over 70/80..

Stock speakers at current settings sount like complete crap at from about 18 up on some songs, to about 20 up on other songs on my 9856 head unit. I hover at about 14-16/35

30/35 for my alpine cda9856

i cant tell if there is much distortion cuz its so **** loud but everything is running off an amp with the gains set right..
Usually i will hover around 25-28 but when i want the bass to kick in hard i pump it up to 30 and try not to go higher then that

I tried the 75% vol thing and didnt like it. I turned the gains down so I can max out the vol with no distortion. I heard about the HU distorting signal at max vol but my system sounds great and clear this way.

i turn my 780mp up to 19/62 max. really slamming loud at that volume it almost hurts. I have BBE on +4 which makes a big difference SLA is on +4 and "Loud" is turned on too. thats how my unit sounds best to me.

28-32 out of 62 max on my Pioneer is what I can tolerate. Any more (and it will with no distortion) and my ears start bleeding.
