I'm in the market for an HU, and was just looking for an HU with the ability for me to connect my ipod directly to it and control it through the HU itself.

the new pioneer units are supposed to have really fast ipod support and they come with the cable. i still dont know if the fixed the issue where if you turn the list back on, you start over from the top of the list. is that problem fixed WaTTs?

Ok, so it's either going to be the Alpine 9857 or the Pioneer Premier DEH-P590IB.

How many lines of text are there? And I don't know if you have sat radio, but I've heard it only displays one line at a time. At least the non Premier version does.

If i-Pod control is main thing you want in a HU, this will probably be the best one for that. I think Alpine missed the mark a bit again by limiting the amount of tuning that can be attained with this HU. Too bad they are not including the processing abilities that will be included with the CDA-9887....

what deck can you get that has features like the cda-9855, but lets you control the ipod, meaning you pick songs, playlists, etc, ON the actual ipod not the radio interface?

I'll check tonight if I get a chance. It's in the girls car. I have yet to play with the ipod hooked up.

Ok guys played with my girls HU a bit using the Ipod. It is full speed. Just as fast as using the ipod itself. I also found that the list problem has not been fixed. If you exit and go back in it will take you to the top of the list everytime. Still a great deck. The remote also has the buttons like teh ipod so you can use that too. Hope this helps.
