I've finally got the money saved up to start building my system. I've got a JL 12w6 and now I'm looking for a front stage to compliment. I had my mind set on the Rainbow's until I just recently heard about the Pioneers. I listen to a mix of rap and rock, so I'm looking for a flexible set.

i like the prs720. They have VERY nice midbass output and clarity. The tweeter is detailed and soft. Very easy to listen to. They have a warm and forgiving tone. Also imho the pioneers look a lot sturdier than the rainbows.... I mean compare the woofer side by side and you'll know what i mean.

My vote goes for the 720prs.

That link has a really nice and detailed comparison for you to read up on. FYI the ARC ACS-265 is the same thing as the SLC's.

Not quite, the ACS is a better set/higher on the foodchain than the SLC's. More comparable to the old Rainbow Professionals.

Thanks for the responses. I'll be dampening the doors, which will include a mdf ring for the speakers, so hopefully the 6.75 size won't matter. I'm just hoping that I won't have to modify my door panel to much to support the increased height that I'll have with the mdf ring.

I can't wait to pick up a set of prs comps myself. those tweeters are gonna be so **** in my door panels. I think they'll match my 880 nicely.

pioneer's showing a higher-end prs tweeter on their website. it's a 1.25" with more power handling. msrp is $350  I haven't looked around for street prices on those yet though.

Max RMS on those is 60W. Not a huge difference from the 1-1/8" tweeters included with the PRS comp sets. But I wonder if they sound any different.
