ok im not 100% exact on the dvd numbers i know its in the 600kbps for dvds with dts and DD+ which most hd-dvds have is 1.5MB and truhd is around 6-8MB its (uncompressed)

also the blu ray version sounds just a tad better from what reviewers are saying
i know my setup i can tell a huge difference from dvd to truehd huge in sq.

I have so much to learn..so blu-ray movies (and hd movies) have options for audio (TRUE HD) on some of them??

But yeah, I can notice the difference too between dvd and blu-ray

yes some of them but on blu ray i think its called pcm thats what blu ray uses most of the time, they do use true hd sometimes but some people say pcm sounds a hair better but hd-dvd uses dolby digital plus most of the time i say 1 in 5 uses truhd but you have to go into the audio option menu of the dvd and select it well at least for hd-dvd with truehd and the dolby digital plus stuff is default from waht ive seen pcm is default on most the blu ray movies ive watched

So what you're saying is...is that Blu-Ray is now to the point where Laserdisc was 10 years ago? :D

Maybe when they were first released...not any less affordable than the first generation of HD DVD players, regardless of format :)

first gen hd-dvd player was $499 i picked mine up for $450 :) starting april first at circuit city they are $399 plus 4 movies in store (happy feet, tokyo drift, babel, and another i cant remember and 5 mail in ones from toshiba so your getting an hd-dvd player for less then $200..
