Need advice on a Double Din HU. Looking really hard at the Kenwood DDX8019, but I also have eyes on the AVIC-D3 and Z2. NAV is a must and I realize I need to get the KNA-G510 for the Kenwood unit. Which HU do you guys think would be best for SQ and playing Mp3s from DVD? Any thoughts on the Pioneer Navigation in comparison to the Kenwood/Garmin Navigation?

Thanks,

TxIceMan

have you looked at the eclipse lines?

the avn5510 might be right up your alley. i am going to get the avn 6610 because it has 2 dvd slots.

i have a 2454 in my scion tc and i like it. the new units are 5V preamp outputs, which is a plus for sound and speakers. other brands are only 2.5 / 2 preamp.

i have a 1 month old 6019 with navi in my truck and an Avic D3 in my lexus. i like the simple interface of the kenwood navi hands down. i am also running BT on both units and like them equally. the SQ in my truck is quite nice, but i am running an AC3.1 in it so as far as basic deck quality its a toss up if you ask me. i picked up the D3 for under 700 the kenwood was 900. i can say that i love the somewhat larger screen of the 6019 though. it really does make a difference when you see two different units on a constant basis.

Kenwood handsdown...especially if you don't want to do any kind of video bypass for a moving vehicle...

I was planning on no more than 800. These are what i have looked at.

Flush Mounted screens. I'd go with an eclipse. Hands down.
Eclipse
AVN6600
AVN6610

For a flip-out I would prefer Kenwood. They Look very ****, And can find some for good prices.
Kenwood

KVT-719DVD

Yup same as the parrot bluetooth but made especially for Eclipse. I got the AVN6610 installed but havent install the Bluetooth yet so I cant comment on that :( The AVN is very user friendly and GPS is fast and on point (great rerouting feature incase you miss a turn). The screen is large and clear and looks almost OEM in my double-din opening. I cant fully comment on the sound since I havent tuned it yet, but am very suprised initially on how it sounds compared to my RFX-8250 (better or worse?)

From my experiences Eclipse is the best sounding one, It has the good old Graphic E.Q.( I wish all units had a graphic EQ!!) and gold plated hi-volt pre-out, Pioneer has the best user interface and options ( very fun unit) as far as Kenwood unit goes.... I'm looking into buying the DDX8017, for many reasons. Here are a few: 5v Preout, SRS sorround, DSP sound processing,4 Band Parametric EQ/ Digital X`over/ Listening Position Control, 5.1 sorround, menu direct touch control:naughty: , plays MP3, DVD, VCDs!!. The only think keeping me from buying this unit is its 6.5 inch screen. Even eclipse has a 7" Double Din unit and so does everyone else. I was considering the new Kenwood DDX8019 with 5v pre-out, but I dont know why:mad: Kenwwod took away all the sound processing away!  :thumbsdo: :censored: :beathors: :thumbdwn: :slap:

There's never totall happyness!!!
F U Kenwood!;)

A new candidate has emerged in my search...

The Kenwood DNX-7100

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/products/ListProduct.aspx?k1=2&k2=38&k3=149&pr=2761

I think the unit is basically a DDX-7019 w/ the navigation built directly into the HU instead of being external. The only apparent minuses to this unit as opposed to the DDX8019 are that it has 2.0V pre-outs instead of 5.0V, 1 usb port instead of 2, and 1 set of AV inputs instead of 2 sets.

Other than those things, the unit is basically the same as the 8019. I don't have any solid pricing on the 8019 yet because it hasn't been released in my area, but I'm kinda leaning towards the DNX-7100 now.

I guess my next question is...Are 5.0V pre-outs worth the extra cost or are they overrated?
