I like the sound of alpines. I have mb quarts, while they are loud and crisp, I find them a little harsh. I loved the warm sound of the alpines. But take this with a grain if salt as I dont know jack.

If your getting tweeters why not upgrade the whole frontstage? look/search through the forums for a nice set of components.

Are you running active or not?

LPG and Seas get recommended a lot for low-profile silk domes, and they're good down to about 3k...

don't your sonys have tweeters on them? How are you going to power them? Are these run off an amp?

Well-built component speakers have the tweeter and crossover custom tailored to each other... you can slap a different tweeter in there if you like and it will play, but it might not sound as good as a packaged component system in a box where everything is designed to blend seamlessly. I know a lot of people do it, but a lot of people do stupid things. Do you smell what I'm cooking?!

I'd buy a whole new set of speakers.
