a) Pioneer 880PRS... everyone knows about it... yeah yeah yeah...

b) Clarion DXZ955MC- It's got everytihng the 880 does, except the equalizer. It's got a 3-band parametric, but it does have a full-color touchscreen, 6-CD internal memory, 5.1 capability, and several other features.

which would you pick...

Then dont get it.. If you want to settle for something less in that price range brand new, then go right ahead..

i had an 880prs for a long time.. very happy with it.

im tradin it for a 980bt.

its honestly a matter of preference. you know the 880 is more clean cut, and the clarion has color. its **** like that that made my decision for me.. i like a little more flash.

if anything - flip a coin

its not so much that the 880PRS is better, it just has a better EQ. Other than that, the Clarion does everything else the PRS does and much more.

Everyone and their brother has one because they are kick ***...

So, 880 is what I would go with....

Indeed, i would choose the 880. You know what, I actually did. I just bought one. I chose it over a kenwwod and alpine's newest.

Ehh, I just decided that I can't pass up the recommendations of so many people. As soon as I get payment for the flipout, it's goin towards the PRS.

Can the clarion go active?

jmanpc
02-12-2007, 11:36 AM
yup it can do 3-way active or even 5.1

Flipx99
02-12-2007, 11:44 AM
I only see a two way active crossover on the sound domain site. I don't know if that's important to you but you might want to go active one day.

i read the manual :D

Flipx99

Might be an interesting choice. Where are they available?

Do you have a link to the manual? I already bought the 880, but I am curious of the crossover point selections on this unit. Is the slope also equally adjustable?

After doing some searching and looking I have to say I still think the 880 looks better.....

dual 16 band eq > then 3 peq :fyi:

jmanpc

If it weren't for the EQ, I'd be all over the clarion.

It's still calling me lol.

jmanpc

look at it this way: if I get it and hate it, I can sell it on eGay for the same price that I bought it for.

joetama

This is the new model right? Or is it an older series?

I am confused....

regardless of the color screen on the clarion, im almost positive you'll like the look of the 880 in your ride more.

jmanpc
02-12-2007, 01:57 PM
They're both silver, and my dash is black. either way, my h/u would stick out like a sore thumb

Flipx99
02-12-2007, 01:58 PM
I think it is an 05 model.

jmanpc
02-12-2007, 02:01 PM
yup, it is

Flipx99
02-12-2007, 02:07 PM
I think it is pretty nice after reading the manual. It doesn't look like you are stuck with crossover points, but the 880s are pretty flexible.

joetama
02-12-2007, 02:08 PM
Just curious..... It looks like a toy in the pictures... Not a piece of sound equipment....

Where in the heck can you purchase a 880PRS? There aren't even any local dealers near me that carries them.

i had a pioneer 860, and bought the clarion, i like the clarion better, the pioneer was cool that you could upload you own pics, but touch screen is cool to use on the clarion and really easy
the recorder on it was neat
it sounded good
screen is very bright and clear
flash brings out all the finger prints in the pics
i miss some things on it, but i cant give up my kenwood indash now, its so easy to use and find songs and what not, but didnt sound as good as the clarion
