Well, I found a car audio shop today that I have never been in so you know me, I just had to pull in and check it out. It's kind of a ma and pa shop but he had some nice gear. When I went to check out the head units, I couldn't believe my eyes. He had the Kenwood Excelon 25th anniversary deck. He had 2 left. Unfortunantly, he wanted 449.00 for it. OUCH! What I did do was put the sub amp I had in mind for my truck project on lawaway. I'm hoping that by doing some business with him, I can talk him down on this. In all the places I have been in over the last year or so I have never seen this deck on sale period! I am hopeful but we will just have to wait and see? I have wanted this deck for quite some time but 449.00 is just too much when I can get the X-889 on line for 269.00 new and shipped.

I think ur asking what refurbished means. Its when a product is sent back to the company that made it, then they replace all the bad parts with brand new ones and resell it in complete working order. Sometimes it might be as small as them replacing a missing button

it's an awesome deck. i dont mind getting the refurbs really. sometimes they are better than non-refurbs since there are so many 01d refurbs. awesome sound quality i must say.

only prob with refurbs is half the places that carry them have crappy warranty's

i'm betting that more often than not all they have to do is plug it into a wiring harness that was installed correctly. Which probably completes the whole process. Then its sent back.

or insert a CD instead of a Floppy. something of the sort.

you guys know what floppys are right?

On the 25th aniversary decks, talk to the people who have them. Incredible sq is a understatement. Excelon's have beautiful sq anyway, but that one is a sweetie!

I doubt there is any difference besides badging, honestly. Unless it was sprinkled with magic 25th Anniversary SQ dust.:crap:

I don't know much bout this deck but I like refurbs. They make sure theyre working and they do a lot of troubleshooting so they may find other problems too that another deck that still worked had that was sent out.
