My new home system, the neighbor aggravator!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I posted a couple topics about this a while ago but was wondering what you guys though about my decisions.

Heres the amp.
http://www.netproaudio.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=424
Now for the sub choices. Ugh, decisions decisions...........

Either 1 of these 18s or 2 of these 12s.
https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=1545aa8537663b9/shopdata/0010_BTL/product_overview.shopscript

2 of these 15s.
http://www.audioque.com/aq/HDSeries.htm

1 of these 15s. (I can get these on ebay a lot cheaper BTW)
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4276

Or one of these 15s
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14003

BTW has anyone ever used Net Pro Audio? I can find the amp cheapest there, and I was wondering what anyone thought about the site.

Linkies = Suckies.... FIX THEM

2x Audioque is going to be pretty decent.

And the Fi, not sure what you are looking at but assuming Q would also be pretty awesome with 2x 12". Personally I would go with stereo 12" Q.

Are you thinking of going ported or sealed?

Okay the "linkies" are all better now. I planned on making a big ole' ported box for them. Im not interested in SQ subs which are the ones you listed(I think).

I would say Fi either way.... The BTL is going to stomp all over that other driver. Could you go 2x 15 BTL?

Which other driver? I dont think ill be able to get two Btl 15s as that would be slightly over budget (1400).

BTW I would like a tiny bit of SQ as I dont want fart bass.

I meant other drivers....

Anyway, well here is your choice....

The two 12" might get louder in certain places in the higher frequency band but they won't be as low as a single 18".

The BTL, doesn't have a bad sound quality what so ever. It is no SQ driver as the Q is but it doesn't sound as bad as it's brother the MT for example.

FiQ 18" Tuned Low and Large and a much more modest amp.

Im keeping the amp for sure, when I get bored of it I can sell it for A LOT!

Net Pro Audio price- 554.99 plus 50.00 shipping
Ebay price-799.00 free ship!

Thats why Im slightly suspicious about Net Pro Audio.
Sorry but Im not interested in a Q BTW.

Phonic XP5000;

What's the skinny on those? I wouldn't mind trying one on test bench to
see what is really does, but I won't spend the coin for an experiment.

Not much google info.

RMX5050 has some parallels to that amp. Same weight, dual mono design,
same power rating, lol... I wonder if someone cloned the baseline design?
I doubt it but the power specs could be legit.

http://www.qscaudio.com/products/amps/rmx/rmx5050.htm

If that amp does meet spec, the price is sweet -> $554.99

Now Ive just realized Im going to need new mids and highs. Should I stay with car audio? Or should I keep in home audio? These will be powered by my receiver (130 wrmsx4 @8 ohms). If I was to stay with car audio I think I would go with 2 decent sets of components. I would wire each pair (assuming they were 4 ohm) to an 8 ohm load on the receiver.

Can you guys recommend some good speakers or component sets?

I will be putting these in a car with the subs BTW.

EDIT: I was thinking two pairs of these.

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4238

Also MAX budget is 300 but Id like to keep it around 200-250.

car audio=no magnetic shielding so you have to keep them away from tvs.

joetama
01-18-2007, 03:05 AM
I have never actually had a speaker mess up my TV....

Older more sensitive CRT TVs you would have this problem.

The only place I would worry about having a shielded speaker is the center channel, because many people put them right on top of their CRT TV's...

The big problem with car audio tweeters is the mounting. They usually do not come with flush mounting kits like you need with a home audio setup.

Atimm693

So there is no real problem with having a car audio component set in your house (after correct wiring and such)?

The link works fine for me............ So Im not sure what to do with it.
The comp set in the link is for a pair of Kicker Components.
Heres another link.

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3396

Specs just in case the link doesnt work for you.
2-way component speakers
Size: 6 1/2
Sensitivity: 88 dB
Frequency Response: 35-21,000 Hz
Recommended RMS Power: 75W
Peak Power Handling: 150W
1" removeable tweeters
Impedance: 4 ohms

Atimm693
01-23-2007, 02:07 PM
So now Ive changed my mind again and have now decided to go with two FI BL 18s, comments? Would this be good for daily. I am getting the full cooling option only. I plan to use one channel of my amp and give each sub approx. 1450 watts rms. Would this setup work?

only if your amp is 4 ohm stable. i know alot of recievers are only stable down to 6 ohms, 4 ohm stable for the center channel

Atimm693
02-14-2007, 11:15 PM
Of course Ill have pics. :D Ive also changed my mind again () and decided to get 4 Hype R 12s. Should be hella loud with 600 watts to each of them. :up2somet:. Will probably order 2 of them plus 20ft of Knu 8 awg wire for the speaker wire. :D

Atimm693
03-12-2007, 08:30 PM
My mind is still not made up yet, and i have decided not to decide on anything yet.
Some options i am thinking about are:

1.Look in sig
2.One 15-18" RE MT on 5kw. :naughty: :up2somet:
3.4 Type-R 12"s
4.One 18" BTL
5.12-18 04-05 RE XXX on much smaller amp.
6.2 BTL 12"s

Now Ive just came up with the MT on 5kw idea, and I am most likely going to get a motor and basket and recone it myself to cut down cash if i go with that option.

How much can i get an MT motor for? Also, how much are baskets and recones from FI?
And also would that 18" BTL take 5kw daily? Or would it be a lot easier on my houses electrical system, amp, and the sub if i just ran it with 2500 WRMS? Would it be less loud then?

Is there any other spl subs I should look into? Ive got gobs of power and my ears seem to have a death wish (that means i want super loud and dont care a whole lot about sq).

Oh and bumperz.

req
03-12-2007, 08:49 PM
why on earth are you going with car audio for a home audio application?

any specific reason? why no look into something like this;

http://home.comcast.net/~infinitelybaffled/page2IB-IBmanifold.html
http://home.comcast.net/~infinitelybaffled/page2IB-Gallery.html

im sure that would be just as cool, you could put like 10 12's in your house, and you wouldnt need all that power lol.

Atimm693
03-12-2007, 09:19 PM
Because i think that car audio subs look a lot cooler than some of the PA ones, also, these subs will go in a car next year anyway, and id rather not have to buy new ones. I looked at them links, and that looks like a hell of a lot more work than just building a box and throwing your subs in it.

Now im not going to be able to get anything tremendously loud anymore......
Stupid futher mucking neighbor came over again and complained about my current system now, and if they cant take that, i cant imagine them being able to put up with 19 times the power and 3x the spl.

So now its either a small system or a new ATV or new dirtbike or something else i can find.

Now i have picked out the amps in my sig because i was recently informed that the Phonic XP5000 will not do 5kw (thanks alot thylantr) and im probably going to end up getting maybe one of those amps or simply a Dayton 1000 watt plate amp and a much more suttle sub.

Any ideas? I was thinking of one sick *** 10 or 8.
Any suggestions for have the sound not leave my room as much?

Eff them. As long as you don't play it excessively loud, you shouldn't have a problem during daylight hours...

I'd look into a single 10" in a Sonotube, cheap and easy to work with :)

Chevyaudio
04-05-2007, 10:47 PM
I had a single 15" in a 5cu. box tuned to 18hz in my HT...In my Apartment. Neighbors knew when I was watching War of the Worlds. :)

Atimm693

I did have a problem yesterday during daylight hours, 6:15PM IIRC, also today my mom was drivin down the road and saw them walkin home and they were like "no more boomin" or something like that.

I think its all BS anyway, theyre on meth so i dont give a crap, a trees gonna fall on their house next big storm it looks like but for now no more big bass.

The neighbors are freinds of my parents and parents>me.

I only have a single RF Punch HE 15 in 3.75 cubes sealed and if they cant take that then no more. Its not exactly excesively loud but at full tilt it gets im guessing in the 115 db range.

If you going to tuned it low, like 14hz or so. You just can't go get any sub and give it 1400w, It will bottom out. I have a custom dual 4ohm FI Q15 in a sonotube 12cuft tuned to 14hz with 900w....and the d@mn thing shakes the hold house. And you can fill the bass in your chest. Also you have to look at how small or how big the rooms.

I thought it was plainly obvious that the Bostons were a better choice and dude seriously looked at with me a straight face and asked "Has anyone really engineered their stuff better than Bose has? I dont think theres a thing is this room that compares!"
