alright guys, the time has come once again to do some shopping, I initially wanted to run the germaniums, and they are definetely still in the running. Does any other component set (6.5") compare to the rainbows? and stay in that price range, preferably cheaper. I had a set of lower end diamonds, the tweeter just sounded to HIGH, harsh I believe is the word they use for it on these forums. Do the higher dollar sets not scream at you so much? Any input would be appreciated greatly, and I did some searching, but would like more input before I dive into this project of mine. I have the amps, already, this set of components will be biamed to a px300.4 from JBL, which I do believe that is rated at 114 rms x 4 channels. Thanks everybody!

I personally haven't heard any component set that sounds better then the Germaniums for ~500 bucks. If you wanted to go active you might get better sound with a DIY setup...might.

Spend half of it on the install and deadening and a set of DIY components.

I bought 16 6.5" power series RF coaxials for 438.00 total.. that's what I did with pretty much 500.. the rest went to food/gas lol

Rainbow Germaniums (http://www.premier-audio.com/Rainbow-CS-265-25-Germanium-6-5-Components-p/rainbow%20cs%20265.25%20germanium.htm) or Polk SR6500 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewitem.php?id=6851&affiliate=googadw)

I think you should look into deadening the doors and making them nice and then worry about some nice speakers.

Polk SR 6500's. They sound incredible!!:yumyum: There is a shop in town that has two sets that they never sold and they offered to dell them to me for $450 if I bought both sets. If you interested I could go snag them for you. $450 is cheaper than I have ever found online. Check out the review on them at CA&E.

If the Polk stuff interests you, I can get you a set from an authorized online Polk dealer for $500, through the store not through me like a regular transaction, full warranty. I like mine, love the few cars I've heard them in.

i never really considered a DIY setup, would the
SCAN SPEAK REVELATOR - $410/set paired up with the MAX FIDELITY MFDT3NEO - $110/set provide me with awesome response as well as a natural sounding tweeter, the one that came with my diamond set is wayyy to harsh for my liking.

Buy some Germs from Don and spend some $ on deadening the doors...

I really need to hear the Germs... Seems to be a HUGE buzz about them. I wonder if there are any dealers near me in MI? Will see.

Had 500$. Spent it on Germaniums. No regrets, except maybe that i didn't save for longer and get the Power Line CS's instead... the cal27 is ****. And 6.9" woofers FTW vs. 6.5's :D Now that i have an amp capable of pushing them... maybe i'll sell the germaniums just to upgrade to the cs 275.27. Or the platinums. Oh the humanity... Mmmm rainbow. FYI, the Germaniums are awesome. Cal25 silk tweet, nice beefy 6.5 woofers that are like miniature subwoofers in the midbass range when you feed them enough current, but still stay beautifully clear up to 2khz
