Im pretty sure i will get a 2.5 cu ft box @ 32 hz for it. I have a decent amount of trunkspace to work with, 40 x 47 x 19. Any one interested? References and pictures of past work are a must.

PESteele's built quite a few boxes. seems to do good work, but his coverings are questionable :)

since he's local i think he'd probably be your best bet (or else you'll be paying $100 for shipping).

just make sure the design is solid :)

haha. I cover it how the customer wants it. Get someone reputable to get you some plans with 45degree corners and braceing and ill build it for you. I can get pics of past work. Ive built about 15 boxes now.

Fedex home delivery for a decent sized boxed is about $25. I shipped to H2's for cali for a lil over $40 with 300 ins on each. Open a Fedex Acct!

DHL FTW. I have only had 1 box that cost 100 to ship, but it was like 6.5 cubes and all double walls. Weighed in at 145 lbs.
On average, I would say shipping is around 30-35 on the boxes I ship.

Robin does good work, you wouldnt be disappointed.

not to thread jack but
you guys use DHL for shipping and it stays with in or below $50
because i had called around in my area and the cheapest i could get an enclosure shipped with the dimensions of 38 x 15 x 25 with a weight of 101lb after all the packing was $88.

can bjfish11 or iamamp3pimp check your connections and see how much a box like that would be from 76543 to 80817
please and thank you.

2.5 cubes of air space for the subtuned to 32 hz. Has a 3" port with 36 sq. inches of port area.

External dimensions are: 30 wide x 13.5 tall x 18.75 deep.

That is what one builder planned for the box. Does that sound alright?

iamamp3pimp
01-03-2007, 11:09 PM
its a 12, right?

rpfuror
01-03-2007, 11:11 PM
Thats pretty close with alot of assumption on my part.

Assuming the port lenght is around ~32" to get 32Hz

I get 2.5cu/ft @ ~32Hz

with a .08 cu/ft driver displacment.

yea, 12 inch 05 RE XXX. He also said the sub only has .1 cu ft displacement? :uhoh: Are these red flags that should be telling me not to use this guy, or does it check out? ( I know many of you in here are box builders so please try to answer this as honestly and unbiased as possible)

There is nothing wrong with the spec the guy gave you for the design, like I said I had alot of assumptions... did he give you port lenght?

iamamp3pimp

closer to .16 sub displacement

nah, just said 3 inch port, but im not really sure what that means. Would I be better off using Moe Lester's box plan for a 2.5 @ 32hz? I showed this guy moe's plan, and he said it would be about 2.9 cu ft gross or so.

yea 12 inch. I want it to hit really hard, but still retain sound quality. I was in my buddies car last night with a JL Audio W7 in a ported box, and it hit really hard and deep, but the sound quality was kind of bad, didn't really sound balanced or anything, just random pounding to music. He had it in a 1.5 cube pre-fab box though. So sound quality still is important to me, but i don't want to lose SPL just to get competition sound quality, i just need it to sound good, and hit hard doing it.

what kind of power do you have?

ls1pimp
01-04-2007, 12:01 AM
what kind of power do you have?

elemental designs Nine.1 for the sub amp, and it runs on 1 ohm, since the sub is a dual 2 ohm. So about 1,000 watts rms i want to say? Maybe 1200? not really sure.

thats pretty sweet then. What other amp can you get for that money that even competes with it? I got mine like a year and a half ago when they were on sale, 175 shipped.
