OK.. here is my question. Will the 45 running down the middle benefit at all or should i not worry about gluing it in? Keep or not?

How big are the ports? And why did you do two seperate ports?

Construction looks great though.

Mr Bojangles

ports are 3.5"
I wanted to just do one big port but I would have had to turn it and it would have taken more airspace away. Also I don't want the air to shoot strait out instead of winding around the box to get out. Last reason is because I'm building the box to kicker spec. In the manual they say 6cuft 3.5"x16.25" port and 13.75" length for 1 sub. So i just doubled that to make what you see here.

Keep the 54 in the middle or not??

I dont think the thing in the middle is worth having there.

Mr Bojangles

I'm not to sure about it either. Just want some feedback

saywhat?

may as well have it....if you cut it already. its nto gunna do anything...but if its there and cut, use it.

Mr Bojangles

it is cut but not glued. And it didn't take much wood at all to make so i'm not worried if i have to take it out. Would it actually improve airflow at all?

Mr Bojangles

the middle piece is in.. hope it works ok..

saywhat?
01-04-2007, 07:04 PM
are you doubling anything up? i would at LEAST double the front...

saywhat?
01-04-2007, 07:04 PM
oh and also....take a pic of your table saw if you would.

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 06:32 PM
I want to double it up but it will be way to heavy. It;s really to heavy as it is but oh well.. I'll get a pic of the craftsman up later. Just got a new phone so the pic quality will be 2megapixel :eyebrow:

then brace the hell outta the box...threaded rod would be enough. 2 top to bottom, 1 side to side, and 2 front to back. you will need it.

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 06:40 PM
I've been thinking about that.. Those threaded rods are expensive eh? I've got braces inside the box now but the rods will help alot. Just don't know where to get them that long..

saywhat?
01-05-2007, 06:41 PM
they arent that expensive....

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 06:45 PM

Let me get this straight....

Instead of using one 6 inch port, you used 2 3" ports To cut down on Port lenght.

Buddy it doesnt work like that. You have the same amount of port area. You dont add the length of those vents together. If you have 2 3" vents that are 15 inches long and 12 inches tall...You have 72 Sq. Inches of vent that is 15 inches long...NOT 32 It would of been the same thing if you would of used one 6 inch vent.

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 06:53 PM
The length wouldn't have been right if i would have done one 6". I would have had to wrap the port.. That's what i was trying to avoid

Mr Bojangles

I didn't use the two 3" ports to cut down on port length. I used them because I wanted to do the box to kicker spec.

That divider in the port will do nothing but cause turbulance.

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 07:01 PM
But if i make it one 6" that thing will wrap around and probably aim down. I'm trying to avoid that so the air doesn't have to make any turns and crap. I don't know man.. Learn as you go

01-05-2007, 07:02 PM
if you rebuild, i will get you loud under the window ;)

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 07:05 PM
already done it that way.. Probably go back to that as soon as i get tired up not being able to see behind me. Or if I find some really good 10's for a good price

saywhat?
01-05-2007, 07:06 PM
10's? I can keep those 15's under....

Mr Bojangles
01-05-2007, 07:12 PM
yea but going with 10's allows me to get more cone area in a smaller box. Had 2 15" below the window and did a 142.9 on TL, then walled it off with the same 2 15's in the same box and did a 143.6. So there is really not that much of an advantage of having a wall unless your running a massive box to take up most of the airspace in the cab. That and the look people give you when all they can see is 2 15" flush mounted in the cab. So it's for both show and sound..

you can brace with 2x4's fyi

Mr Bojangles

What JBL amp? I'm not familiar with a 1400W RMS JBL amp...

Mr Bojangles

BP1200.1

It says 1200 @ 2 and 1ohm but mine benched at 1200 @ 2 and 1390@1

So with the other battery i should be able to get full potential

if he had made it a single 6 inch port, he wouldnt have the rearward clearance that he needs
