MDF doesnt seem to hold screws well, Im kinda worried about my mag possibly shaking itself free. How do you guys secure your subs in?

I screw my subs in with coarse thread drywall screws right into MDF. My subs weight ~60lbs each and they're firing forward... no problems for me. Then again, I have four layers of MDF :p:

Yeah I was considering doubling up the MDF in front. Noones had a problem with one layer? No, just make sure you don't have the hole cut too big, you predrill and use coarse thread screws... you'll be fine :)

My cutout is 14" diameter, my 15" mag doesnt seem snug at all. Will that cause peoblems? The hole is basically perfect.

It doesn't need to be so tight that you can't fit it in :p: Just make sure there is adequate space for the screws to go in... if the cutout diameter is too big then the screws won't be very effective.

I botched a few screw holes on the latest box & switched to T-nuts. Kinda a pain but much more secure.

Yes, t-nuts are pretty secure :)

Also phat: If it's 14" you'll be fine, I looked, that's the exact cutout diameter Stereo Integrity recommends for your 15" Mag.

T-nuts (blind nuts) and machine screws for me.

Hmm what is a t nut...sounds nice.

Also, when I bolt it to my trunk floor I want a way to bolt it and unbolt it without taking the sub out. Are there any kinda nuts that auger themselves in somehow or effectively glue down so they dont need to be held?
