i want to use the method of checking polarity that uses a 1.5 V battery where u just touch the wires to the battery for a split second to make sure the speaker pops OUT!

i know that to do this, i have to temporarily disconnect the speaker from the passive crossover, which is in my door. is there any way around this? i mean, my install guy has over 30 years of experience and i have no reason to think they are out of phase.

You could prbably do it without bypassing the crossover . But if you do find out they are out of phase . Your not going to know exactly which connection ( at the amp or crossover ) is the culprit :)
