....I have a X889 and had a few other kenwood decks. I notice that when you turn the volume up it dont really get loud until it about 26 , and from 26 to 28 it gets way louder between numbers. I set my gains at 28 volume. I love the way it sounds i just feel like my real volume is in between 25 and 28. Anything under is too low of voulme. I know its not my current deck because Iv owned mostly Kenwood. Its the same with all of them. Now on the other hand i played with a Pioneer 6800 and the volume gets louder between numbers right from the gate. So whats the deal?

yes its like that with all of them, the higher you go, the more of a jump in volume you get with each increase.

ahhh ahhh, Seems mine starts sounding rough around 32-33. So what I did was, set volume offset a little, so I could turn it wide open without distortion.

I dont go that high because of clipping the headunit and my gains are set at 28.

they probably do that on purpose because when you have your stereo on a super low volume odds are you're fine tuning it so you can talk over it or something, in which case a little adjustment goes a long way. You don't want it to go straight from mute to something that is noticable when you're trying to keep it low, and when you have it cranked past 20s they probably figure you're not going to be trying to talk over it anyway so when you make it louder....it gets louder
