View Full Version : Insignia @ Best Buy?
Has anyone used / installed one of these units? It's for my 16 year old daughter and doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles. The main thing is Ipod compatibility.

get that and then 50$ more gets ya the Ipod adaptor which will charge and control ipod off the radio.

thats highway robbery charging over $50 bucks for that thing. save your money and go with an entry level alpine/pioneer/clarion/ etc. most decks nowadays have ipod connections so that shouldnt be an issue.

if you spend the extra money for an alpine or pioneer, you will be happy in the end.

I would get a sony gt series before I got the insignia... just me though. The alpine 9856 is a decent choice at 200 dollars plus the 30 dollar ipod adapter. Thats 230 for an ipod compatible unit that sound pretty good and has a very fast ipod connection.

all you really need is a cd player that has an auxiliary input and then go and get an rca to phono cord at like walmart or circuit city.

She has a tape to aux adapter now but I would rather her be able to control the Ipod through the radio. My biggest concern here is her safety, not SQ. If this was for my car I know what I would get, but she's 16, she doesn't care about all that, she's happy with what she has now...
Thanks for all the advise.
Anyone use the Panasonic unit, a few friends have recommended it as well.
