View Full Version : Worklog for 8" Bass Solutions

12-03-2006, 08:48 PM
Just realized how little pics i took but anywho the sub is an 8" Bass Solutions, the box is vehicle and sub specific and it will be going into my brothers car which is an 2003 Mercedez (forget model lol). Sub hits really hard off my plate amp inside high point i would say are the lows and mid lows but don't get me wrong it handles the highs very nicely and moves a TON of air. I am not giving you guys any info on the box since (some of) you guys will probably just tell me how it's not going to work etc. Anyways it will be powered with about 800 RMS by my PA1000db. I feel like i left something out but here it goes:

nice man, box looks sweet, did it take long? i have yet to build a tl

12-03-2006, 09:59 PM
Looks pretty good. TL with a compression chamber?

Your big toe frightens me.

12-03-2006, 10:14 PM
Thanks guys I was waiting for someone to mention my toe lol, but if you look carefully i am on a step in my house so im leaning forward, next time it will look better :). It took me all day taday pretty much to build but that's only becasue im a tedious worker with obsessive compulsive disorder (just a minor case not like the episode on mtv). Anyways i appreciate it, this is my third box and i think it turned out well. -Alex

looks like one hell of a design. very well put together too.

12-04-2006, 01:15 AM
800rms might be a lil much for the 8"...but looks very good nonetheless

good job

12-04-2006, 08:33 AM
very elaborate...thats going to be one comfy 8"

good work

12-04-2006, 09:59 AM
Thanks guys appreciate it, i think 800rms may be just a lil too much to but i will ajust the gains a bit. Probably get 600RMS that's what loyd said it likes. Alex

That's no TL - no stuffing.

That a 1/4 wave wave-guide or just a really low tuned box, and at what freq?

12-04-2006, 10:31 AM
holy huge box

12-04-2006, 10:31 AM
but looks to be well constructed :)

12-04-2006, 10:32 AM
That's one sexxxy bawcks ;)

12-04-2006, 01:51 PM
Thats a big *** port for that thing...what are the box specs?

12-04-2006, 01:57 PM
I really dont want to post specs since it will probably just turn into a scream fest of people telling me its not going to work, when in fact it does so Im going to keep it quite for now some people know though ;)

12-04-2006, 01:58 PM
oh yeah port is 4" wide, box is really heavy, i think i hurt my back :(

12-04-2006, 03:15 PM
that things prolly tuned around 25-28 huh?

12-04-2006, 05:10 PM
more like 50

anyway what stle of box is that?

looks like a low tuned ported........but if im wrong, correct me.

TLs don't need stuffing to be a transmission line.

I thought that was a basic property of a TL? Dampening via line stuffing.

12-04-2006, 06:02 PM
i dont know them, so i dont comment on em.

alex, hows the other box?

12-04-2006, 06:07 PM
Vids God Dammit Vids!!!!

12-04-2006, 06:36 PM
I thought that was a basic property of a TL? Dampening via line stuffing.

Nope. People stuff the line to reduce standing waves of upper order harmonics. It helps smooth out the frequency response and also helps lengthen the line in case you were a little bit off of your desired length.

This enclosure looks like a TL with a line length of about 60" or 1.5m which gives the line a tune of ~56hz. I'm not sure how the compression chamber affects the line though but my theory is that once the line begins to unload, the enclosure acts like a ported enclosure with a port length of 60". I could be way off here though as I have never done any research on TLs with compression chambers.

Thanks guys, other box is great, im thinking about pulling it out and carpeting it but it's gonna be a pain to pull everything out. Vids will be up hopefully on roe as well i dont think theres a bass solutions section yet so id be happy to make one. And the style of box is a T-box and im more than pleased with the sound i will say its a hell of a lot louder than a sealed 16ov2 in a 1.5cu.ft. off the same power. And I cant wait to see how much louder it's going to get since the box is mass aligned to a much smaller environment than a room. Install will be probably this weekend, im going to take my time so that means no parties this weekend :( But thanks for all the comments guys. Alex

Might need to do a Tbox meself.

12-04-2006, 11:54 PM
Tbox stands for "**** Box"

Nice work bro

Wheres the video

12-09-2006, 01:30 PM
lol im going to put carpet on it still but other than that i will be running wire and deadening today. So after i get the carpet and amp rack completed I will be able to just throw it in and take some vids. But they will be up i will either bump this or put them right on ttb's forum. -Alex
P.S i may put up a pic of the car and hatch area if time allows which it probably will just so you guys can see .It's a 2002 Mercedez compressor for those who don't want to read the whole thread

a little update still not hooked up but i got off school early today for exams so i got a little bit of work done. This car is like a tank to run wires in i had to rip out almost 90% of the interior and im still dreading the worst part, the firewall :(

12-13-2006, 03:44 PM
man that is one HUGH box for an 8" driver. Box looks really nice thou.

BTW, seriously, what is the difference with a TL design?

12-13-2006, 04:24 PM
difference is when everyone thinks im running 12"s then i show them it's just an 8 ;)

12-13-2006, 06:47 PM
so if the design is done by toxic bass then im sure its going to be pretty **** loud for an 8

12-13-2006, 07:24 PM
yeah i cant wait to get everything hooked up
