I had some extra mdf laying around the new home I'm building and decided to put it to use and make a couple of box's for some JL Audio 10's that I plan to use in a HT setup.

Here is the left over wood that I have to build with...

Ok so back to the build, here is the workbench and the tools I used...

Got the sides and bottom glued and nailed...

Overall Im very happy with the quality of the bass coming from the 10" JL W0. It's getting about 250rms and sounds great while watching movies and playing music. It really hits the lows well and is a perfect sub for HT use.

Let me know what you guys think,

Thanks!

Ya, it looks that way, but there no air leaks anywhere and I made sure everything was sealed and cocked from the inside. This was kind of a spire of the moment build and I have enough wood to make about 4 more box's so I'm sure the others will be much better. Thanks for your honest opinion.

Ahh good idea, I have a router with a bunch of bits, but I left it behind when I went to the job site of the new house to make this box. The next build I will def do that. What about making some small pcs in each corner of the port to help route air flow?

i would slam that hood down so quick it would make your head spin and its neck snap. then i would start the car and catch its tail in one of the belts and its face in the fan. after that i imagine that it would have been dead for a while, but just incase i'd go on a cruze on a hot sunny day.

*UPDATE*

I just added the new box to my computers sound system. I've got optical out from a X-Fi Platnium card to a Harmon Kardon AVR reciever sending a hella clean signal to the JL. Having a computer to adjust the sound of the bass makes this thing move some air and sound amazing. All optical is the way to go.

I'm using the amp in the HSU MK 2 to power the JL sub...

I've been messin around with designs in SketchUp, that website was just as a quick reference supa c. Next design will be a straight L ~ 2.5 @ 30hz. Then after that I'll build a couple more like a 8th order with PVC.

SAG 3 - on 360 it's Gears of War on Sony Trinitron FD, better then 1080P...

notice pixel spacing, this is at 4x optical zoom...

Thats why you need to cross reference it with your own plans and not trust websites. It's prety obviouse if there is a messup somewhere once you get the hang of doing the calculations. Also loading the design in SketchUp is what I'm doing now to modify the design. I just download it a couple days ago. I think I'm going to try another desgin without the "maze" port.

LOL, ya i was suprised to see the paper go all the way in and come back out :D

The sub doesnt move much at all and puts out serious air, looking at it with my eye I could barely see the sub move but as you can tell by the video it was pushing out made air.

How do you record a more accurate sub excursion higher fps like 60? In that clip i just posted it was about 1/4 of the way up.

Usually you can get some more volume by loading it, like cabin gain

I may try that in another build. What location would "corner" mean, i was wondering if it would make a difference having the woofer mounted closer to the port?

In the corner of your room, try facing the wall, downfire ect
Port placement, woofer placement.

Ahh yes, having the woofer and port face the back wall improved the sound greatly, the bass is more equally distrubited throughout the entire room.

I just have the box facing out for the video :P

it's how putfile keeps the site running, everytime u click once u load like 2-3 different ads and they get paid for each ad viewed, so 10 clicks really means 20-30 ad views, they make money easier taht way.
