Browsing on www.woofersetc.com I am looking for a set of 5 and 1/4 CDT components...

I have a budget of $200.

These are my options...

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3079 (EF-51Neo)

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4609 (CL-51A-25 PRO)

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4893 (EF-51Neo/DRT-25 Pro)

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1095 (EF-51)

As well, I am looking at some Pioneer Premier TS-C520PRS, but I am not sure if these are gonna be better or worse compared to CDT. Up until 3 days ago, I had never heard of CDT...

BTW, My head unit is a Pioneer Premier P860MP and the components will be run off of a Alpine MRPF450 Amp (75WRMS x 4).

i am using the CL 61 6.5" comps and am so happy with the over all way they sound, the mids are very loud and the tweeters are silk and smooth at any volems. i have heard the Premiers and they sounded OK but they lacked detail and sounded muddy at hi volumes.

i say to go with the CL51a25 pro :yumyum: :yumyum:

75 watts rms.

I cant decide between the pioneers and CDT's now. So many people are speaking very highly of these premiers...

I bought a set of CDT ef 61's from djdilliodon on this forum. They are decent speakers. He sells authorized and he ships fast.

With that power you may also want to consider the Alpine Type X components.

Cheap 3-series are getting hard to find, and these are more comparable to the CL-EF sets you can get in the $150-$200 range than the 346cs, which is more comparable to the ES series. The 2-series use the same tweet as the 3-series, but with a polypropylene mid (as opposed to spun-aluminum) and a simplified crossover.

I'd take these over a CDT CL or EF any day. But I'm not big on CDT, so, that's just my bias.

And the pricetag is worth considering. These a very, very good speakers for $84 authorized. That's an excellent deal, which may evaporate soon.

For the money, I don't see something better out there.

I love my CDT's but **** like notwerk said the ads 245ix for that price tag I would go for those! $84 can't beat it

I love my CDT's, but with only 75w I can't recommend them to you with that little power. I'm pushing 150w to my CL 61A's and they sound amazing.

get some crystall sscs from 95strokedchevy on here. its like 160 shipped for the 6.5" so the 5 1/4 would be cheaper. message him u cant go wrong with them.

So 75W is not enough for CDT, but now I have people recommending ADS and Crystal...

I am looking for some great sound quality up front.

I am aslo thinking of the PRS's from Pioneer and some MB Quart reference...

75 watts is enough for pretty much any speaker.

The Cdt Cl comps will sound just fine off true 75 watts of rms power, my bother was running them off his HU before he got his amp and that was only producing 20 watts rms or so to them and they sounded very nice.

Exactly. I don't know who is putting 150 watts per channel to a set of 6.5" in free air/door installations but I can almost bet they are crossed over too high.

i love my CDTs...150rms to each side. they get loud! and sound clear...and are well worth it the $. i got a steal on mine for 170 shipped. i'd buy the CDTs but only because i run them and know how awesome they sound...

with 200W rms i'd say run 3 ways (http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1119) you will not be dissapointed!

i had some cdt ef carbon fiber mid series. bought from Djdilliondon for 220 shipped. those were some nice speakers imo. powered with a bridgd orion 4004. 200 watts per speaker and they are crystal clear uptil the very top. i now have the boston pro 60's which off 300 watts sound good but dont even get as loud as my cdt's did with 100 less watts. but they do sound a TINY bit better imo.

i have pro 60s as well but not installed. i like My CDTs better. as far as sq i have a hard tiem determining which sound better. i tried my best to do a good compairson of them both installed in the same car same amp same day. picked 10 different tracks etc. at the end of it all i thought my CDTs got louder and sounded better..but it's not as easy as black and white.

Anyways the poster should get the CDTs(get the 6.5s make them fit. it's worth it)

edit: give them as close to 150rms as you can.

75rms is not really going to push the CDT's but it'll work. I have about 70rms actively to my M6 and am probably going to up it to 100rms active. I've used the HD's and had about 200rms on them and they did very well with it but they need to have a better deadening on it. But I prefer the CDT's with upgraded tweeters.
