Thank you guys for all the help over the past few days, I appreciate it. Ive narrowed down my component speaker choice to Boston Acoustics Pro 60 or Rainbow SLC's. I want the loudest and clearest sound I can get. Also could you guys recommend me an amp for the choice you provide. Thank you very much again. :veryhapp:

Pro 60>SLC, IMHO.

What's your budget for the amp?

honestly I dont want to spend to much on the amp I want decent quality though so, the best bang for my buck basically not top of the line.

I'd go with the Pros as well.

Perhaps:

or

for the amp?

Go with a 4 channel and biamp those Bostons. I'd suggest a Xenon X100.4, but those are dang near impossible to find at a reasonable price. How about the Infinity 7541a (http://www.cardomain.com/item/INFREF7541A) ($210) or the JBL GTO75.4II (http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLGTO754II) ($191)?

If I went with the rainbows is the JBL GTO75.4 a good choice?

Yep. Be gentle with the gains. ;)

I have a 5 channel Rockford Fosgate Amp. It does 50 x 4 @ 4 ohm and 100 x 4 @ 2 ohm and like 200 x 2 @ 4 ohm bridged. This is underated power

how much power whould i get at 3 ohm if i use the boston set.

Like 75 watts rms ?

3 ohms is fine if you are bi-amping them on a four channel.

I like that JBL GTO75.4, solid amp.

Probably close to 75w, which still isn't enough for those Bostons. They like lots of power.

Keep the gains low on the tweeter if you're bi-amping them, or be prepared to blow one (or two).

I may just go for the rainbows with that jbl amp seems like a good solid choice :)

The Pro's are very nice speakers, they get a bit harsh at very hi volumes because of the tweeter but they are crystal clear.

Why did you even bother with this thread? I'm not bashing at all but evey reply was more favorable toward the Bostons and you come back and say you think the Rainbows are a good choice? That just doesn't make much since.

Dude, Like I said I wasn't bashing you. Either the Bostons or the Rainbows are going to be sweet. I just find it odd when people get consistant replys and say they are going to do the opposite. Sounds like you had your mind made up before you posted the question. Again, you will not be dissappointed with either so listen to both if you can and get the ones you like the best. It doesn't matter what everyone else likes if you like what you have.

Picking a comp set is tough business (and the most important choice you'll make, for sure). If loud and clear is what you're after, I think you'll be happy with the Bostons. The Rainbows are no slouch, either, so I don't think it's a case where you'll be disappointed. But I think the Bostons are a safe bet for what you're after.

If you're still on the fence, see if you can find a Boston dealer. They shouldn't be heard to find.
