Do you use baltic birch, or is it just birch?

its 13 ply birch. it doesnt say baltic anywhere, but the HD guy says that it is. I dont quote it as baltic because i dont want to get flamed if by chance it isnt.

Cause we sell a like 9 ply baltic birch in 1/2", but it only comes in 5x5 sheets, which ****. Im going to see what we can get as far as 3/4 baltic birch. May have to buy a unit ;)

I was wondering when you were gonna get in here ;)
Ill get it to you as quick as I can. Usually takes me 3 days (cause I have to wait for paint to dry again when I roundover the port on the outside). I may have to work on my lunch break tomorrow to get it to you faster.

yeah, those seem too high......nevermind then. I need something to waste my 62 bucks on because paypal wont let me withdraw and put in my bank until another week or so because ive went over my limit

what would a top mount amp rack look like? and will that take a while to put in?

A top mount, you just actually mount the amp onto the pedestal, its for glass boxes. A flush mount it will sit down into the box, making the top of the amp flush with the top of the box. It will take some extra time, and were kind of limited on what size amps we can put in there and not get in the way of the port, plus it will slightly change the tuning with the loss of airspace inside the box.

Another good lookin start. BJ, I might be hitting you up next week for another build, I'm picking up some DD 3510's so as soon as I figure out what I'm gonna do I'll give you a hollar.

I'd be interested if that 13 ply birch would be any lighter than the trupan you normally use. That last box I got from you was pretty light compared to what I'm used to.

I will do some checking into the birch. I dont think it will be much lighter than the trupan, but im not for sure. Ill compare the 1/2" birch we stock to the 5/8" trupan we also stock, and compare weights with that.

Right on, I'm guessing it might be hard to justify the cost to weight savings, but its always worth a check.

Thats what I have been telling you that you should do. It works great as a work bench also. And when It comes to carpeting its awesome. It has many uses. I just used 3/4" particle board and some 2x4's. Its sturdy as hell.

Let me know what fence you end up getting, and how you like it. So that I know for future reference, in case I need a new one. But Im kind of set on the Biesmeyer system. Thats what we have at work, and its VERY nice.
And thanks.

I gathered up some info on baltic birch 13 ply vs. trupan, and here is what I got.

Weight---
Trupan- 2.25 lbs. per square foot.
Birch- 2.16 lbs. per square foot

Price (my cost)---
Birch is roughly $.25 more per square foot.

The reason I compared square footage is because the Brich I have easy access to comes in 5x5 sheets (which ***** to handle) vs. 4x8 sheets.

In case your wondering, a 4x8 sheet of trupan weights in at 72 lbs and a 5x5 birch weighs 54 lbs.

Im gonna stick with using trupan. I dont feel the price is worth the very minimal weight difference you will get. However, if its wanted for a build, I would be more than happy to get it.

Looks Sweet! those subs have ehlla thick surrounds. Do they hit lower then the R's too?

So honestly you can say it's way louder? Can you noticably see things flex more? Or does it just sound louder to the ear?

You are the second person that I've known who has upgraded from Type R's and has been very pleased with the outcome.

I have a guy that will pay me big bucks for my (2) Type R's in the glossy black box I made. So I may be upgrading here in the future. Hence all the questions :D
