Pioneer 880PRS. Preout VOLTAGE problem?

I have a Pioneer 880PRS, and i believe its suppose to have 5V preout...... So I am here setting my gains on my PG X400.1 amp and I turn the volume of my HU to 40 (63~ is max). I use a DMM and to get the 38V~ i want to get, I have to turn the gains up 3/4 of the way................ Is this normal? Is there something wrong?

Nothing bad is going to come out of this is there?

Its the xenon amp itself. They require a stronger signal than most amps. Its normal.

MY alpine MRV-F450 does the same thing, thats why i was curious

Its normal, they are great amps though.
