i like the competition... which is why im going for bassrace 139.9. plus, i got points for that class so far. and yes.. in a burp it will do more than 139.9.

I guess, some people don't really understand how bassrace works yet.

lol... yea let me bother my neighbors and turn on the table saw. I'll start building for sure tomorrow. I got a false floor to work with, build that enclosure, and think of a design for an amp rack.

Bass Race is more about control than anything else so if he can control his system better than everone else than yeah he should do very good but trust me there is some very stiff competition in that class.

i had a couple more, but didnt get to upload them. I'm over here at my cousins pad, about to hit up the clubs.

Progress:

Just got done slapping all the pieces and cut out the port hole. Roundover bit all the edges, especially the port. All i gotta do is for the enclosure is cut the hole, roundover it, slap in the flush mount, and cut the hole for that.

why not just have both back?

because i like being different.

It's good owning your own TL, but just watch, it'll bite you in the *** when you go to a comp and their meter is reading 1-2db off (which is rather common). They need to get that fixed. . . ASAP. The reason I bought a TL was because I wanted precise and consistent readings, both of which I don't know about now. . .

It's good owning your own TL, but just watch, it'll bite you in the *** when you go to a comp and their meter is reading 1-2db off (which is rather common). They need to get that fixed. . . ASAP. The reason I bought a TL was because I wanted precise and consistent readings, both of which I don't know about now. . .

I don't understand why anymore, maybe people messing with the K-factor. They used to be almost dead on 1-2years ago...

So, tuned @ 27hz... and it peaks @45hz... hmm... box doesn't peak 18hz above tuning so it must be your vehicle coming into play ;).

Oh, and that doesn't mean it's the RF of your vehicle either...

Did it peak any lower than that?

Not that i know of. Just ran one sweep. What do u suggest i should do?

ngsm13
11-09-2006, 07:58 PM
Well, each box will peak differently... if you want to bassrace... and use something like Jeezy and such... (which peaks ~43-46hz)... I'd suggest trying something around a 36hz tuning to try to get the most out of it.

I'd suggest making a box with the sub and port on the same side... so when you test you can try firing up OR firing towards the rear. Also, try to make sure there is only ONE bend in the port at the most. OR Sub up... and port along the bottom like a CRX style.

And those one or two boxes don't need to be pretty... make em quick... with scraps if you want... just to try them. Then when you find out what's best... make it look nice ;)

W-O-W!! Great work!!!

Some questions.

1) What was your 18 XXX hitting, and at what frequency?

2) Did you get a chance to test the port position? Which position sound best and or loudest?

3) Can you compare the SQ of the BTL vs. the XXX?

Makes me want to get a BTL instead of an 18" XXX now :)

Thanks man!

Did a 144.4db @ 40 hz on a 7cu ft enclosure tuned at 33 hz.

2) Did you get a chance to test the port position? Which position sound best and or loudest?

No, i did not test it out yet. I will try and see if i have the time tomorrow to test that out.

3) Can you compare the SQ of the BTL vs. the XXX?

SQ of the BTL, i am very impressed. Got alot of compliments from friends that were over today, telling me how it sounded cleaner than my 18" XXX, which was i was surprised. I guess tuning the enclosure to 27hz helped alot for the low end. Overall, 15" BTL vs 18" XXX. 15" BTL hands down.

or do you know if he's gonna do full version of the song for his cd release?

that songs sounds sick in my car, but it's only 1:20 or something with a dj yackin in the background :(

whoa... i got the same thing. it seems like there is a longer version to it, because in the ending i can still here him rapping.

In my garage the bass would make this sliding glass goor noticably vibrate. It's cool to take video of the effects of what your system does to surrounding objects...

It's on the "Can't ban the snowman" mixtape CD.

The song that it fades into, the next song is pretty good too... not as good as that one though... search for the CD on amazon. #4, #14, and #15... good ones...

yeah i have that mixtape. i got it through a torrent, so i think it's all there.

i've been meaning to listen to it all the way through, but i hate mixtapes due to the dj's ad-libbing all the time.

plus i don't have bass right now :(

Meet up with Dante last night and all i can say HOLY *****. The sub was moving, got loud and low. Couldnt believe how well it played. I had a Treo CSX(spl sub) before and didnt like the sq on it and the fact that it didnt get low. And thats the case with this sub. The funny thing is, is that after i left dante told me that the sub control was only on 5 out of 15, Im still amazed that the sub can get louder than it was. Great sub....

if you have an alpine head unit with the gains on your amp set properly the difference from +5 to +15 is quite a big difference!

Yup, I usually set my gains around 10-12 on the subout @volume 31... and adjust from there...

Glad you love it Dante.

Any idea how the BTL would perform if it was only given around 1000-1500w?

i've heard online that +15 on the sub out is really reference and it just attenuates down :fyi:

i always set the gain at +15 on the sub out and 25/35 main volume :)

i feel that gives me a good range to be able to adjust the sub down for less bumpage.

True, I turn my sub output to +15 and set my gains, also.

Volume 25 is no where near full pre-out voltage :fyi:

If you set your gain's with a volume of just over 3/4 (so where you set your gains with a DMM to your calculated voltage) it's fine right?

What headunit's are you using to have a control like that for sub-out gain?

Is 30 inches of prot enough for a btl?

I'd give it at least 60... for a 15"

I had 90 sq. in. of port for mine...

Yea, i agree with Noah. 30 is too little for a 15, maybe for a 12 though.
