I have a 1998 Dodge Neon R/T and would really like to design and make my own sound domain. I would really apreciate anyone who can give me the measurements. This is a new project I am starting and I need a little help.

try neons.org....they got everything you might need

you don't need trunk specs to make a sounddomain?

Why not grab a tape measurer and measure it? or google.

Isn't it obvious what I mean? I want to make my own creation for my subs and amps. Jeez! I want other opinions before I start.

uhhhh... you're asking for measurements of your trunk, y dont u just go to the forementioned website, or just take a measuring tape and measure it yourself. if you want opinions and suggestions on design, then say so, but according to the title and post, you're asking for measurements

they already gave you plenty of options, the best being to measure it yourself...

I do want measurements. Not because I'm lazy, but so I can compair. I'm not asking anyone to go out and measure their trunk because I can't. I've never done this before and I wanted to compair and contrast. I have gone to pages posted earlier and I have found what I need. I thought this message board was to help, not critisize...... thank you.

Lol, don't mean to run you away but, just measure twice if you want to "compair"

And if there is a big difference, triple check it.

Ok. I'll go "compair" three times then. LOL. Thanks for nothing.

LOL Blog.

I'd say you need to read up on guides tutorials, and know what you're getting into before building a box. Maybe a tutorial on how to use a measuring tape.

Perhaps some basic geometry classes, enjoy.

Have you noticed that of everyone who participated in this "thread", you've left the most replies? Do you not have a project of your own? I bet you had trouble in school ... as a matter of fact, I would bet money you were home schooled. Actually, I am in my second year of college and I've taken more math classes then you probably ever will. So is it wrong of me to want to go about my project the right way and get another opinion first? That's all I wanted in the first place. Before I even started this, I did measurements, I just wanted a little insight. You know, an OPINION. Since your so into my "thread", check out my home page in a few months and see what I've done. I already know I need to study up on box building. You need to find something else to do becides bookmarking this page. Losar.

Oh, by the way, when you mount your amp to your sub box, it vibrates the **** out of it and cuts the life of the amp in half, if not about kills it.......but you already knew that, right? Isn't that why you did it?

Lol I knew it, yeah wanna know what else kills a amp, dropping a 20 lbs weight on it when it's powered up.
Those amps are pos piece's of ****...that was a temporary box I made way back, and I tossed the amp on the box..I shoved a piece of cardboard under it to help keep it from rattling.
But not all boxes vibrate, a properly braced box will be safe to mount the amps on it.

Lol, resourceful eh.

...I guess those lanzar amps weren't that bad, did survive huge voltage drops, tossed around, mis-wired/strapped when they're not designed for it...up untill I dropped the weight on one of em...it was fun.

Meh funs over, oh well...

Why would you need a 2nd opinion on what the dimensions are of your trunk? :eyebrow:

DOOD my trunk is 36" wide ... what do you say?

SWEET I think it is also 36" wide.

mattmcss
10-23-2006, 11:36 PM
well shes right to a certain point, try to avoid excess vibration to the amps, maybe mount em with rubber between the amp/box to absorb some of these. But prediciting the life of an amp based on where its mounted is just simply ludacris. Stay fresh.

I didn't say she was wrong, It probably could affect the amp to some extent, but who cares if it's a cheap amp, I didn't allow it to live long enough to see how long it'll survive sitting on the box in the first place.

She was just looking for, and giving me **** on an old box I used to have in the trunk.

Like stated earlier, there are ways of mounting your amp to the box and having it live a full life. I just noticed that Rawr-DQ had his amp mounted directly to the box. That will kill it. Hey, I don't know much about audio installs, but common sence would tell you that.

You guys are being a little rough. Please back off. Honestly, I admire anyone who puts time and effort into their projects. I've seen some of your work and it looks pretty good. I wish I could do that. I'm trying to learn. Yes, it would be easy for me to go out to my trunk and measure. I've already done that. I just couldn't believe it all had to be that easy, being that people pay 1 to 5 thousand + to get that stuff done. If it's that easy, they must be lazy or just ignorant. I wanted a second opinion from someone who attempted (and succeeded) the matter.

Chill.

I have two P3s right now. I would like to make it so I could put in 4. Sorry. My current sub box is in my gallery. I didn't make it or anything. I don't like it. It's too plain.

10-24-2006, 04:12 PM
My room mate has a 12" P3 in a ported box I built for him, sounds pretty good with just one, why the need for 4 ?

Thinking of going fiberglass ?

melissa98neonrt
10-24-2006, 04:15 PM
Well right now I'm just gathering ideas. But, you see, it's pretty hard to do here. I was thinking fiberglass, but I have no idea how to go about it. I have an idea what Iwould like it to looklike, but I'm not sure if it would work. I measured, but I'm still skeptikal. I just need some insight.

I don't have a Neon so I can't help with measurements, but don't forget to make sure you can get the box into the trunk to begin with. Take the measurements you think will work and make a cardboard test box to make sure.
