I have 75W rms to give each. All around the same price.

D661s
JL Xr
Premier TS-C720PRS

Which of these three should I go with??

XR's are my bet but probably the most expensive if you buy them from a dealer.

I ran the 661's for a while and wasn't that impressed. Thay sounded pretty average. I was looking for SQ though. When I moved up to the Crystal SSCS6 with double the power (150w) I was blown away

I cannot comment on the others.

you dont have the power for the d6's, and i wasnt impressed at all with mine. out of those i would have to say the xr's.

But the d6 have the highest sens. = louder with same power over the other two.

Hey, if any of these will beat my REV's in every way.... Im happy!!

do you have rev coaxials? i have had the rev coaxials and the d6 components, and i wouldnt consider the d6's a wise purchase. they arent that much better sounding than the revs, and the revs do get louder, hehe.

The tweeters on the XRs are surprisingly smooth for metal domes. The overall sound is pretty warm. They're a good set.

The Premiers look nice on paper though (never heard them) and generally speaking, I prefer a soft dome.

I'd avoid all things Diamond unless you found a set of the old-school Eton drivers. Actually, I think I'd prefer the XRs even to the Eton-made Diamonds.

Your 75w rms/ch is perfect for the Type X comps!

-I've auditioned the D661S's... wasn't impressed.
-I've heard the JL XR's... dang nice, but too expensive for what you get.
-I've heard the TS-C160R's... very nice for the money, but don't know how they would compare to the 720PRS's.

(for all of those that have been reading many of my posts lately - yes, I know i'm a type x *****. but to me they are worth whoring. lol)

I your opinion, Which set is overall better regardless of price...
The D661 or the ts-c160r ?

If you love midbass, go with the Premiers. If you love sharp highs, go with the Diamonds. You may want to have either set amped at around 100w rms/side to unleash their full potential, though.
