:bawling: my first fiberglass practice was a pile of sh*t and the second doesnt look so good itself. i had them sittin in the sun dryin an old mr. scattered shower comes along an sprinkles some water on the top of it .:mad: (how nice of him) i guess ill try it a few more times an if it doesnt work for me ill just stick to mdf box making. but first i gotta get me a table saw or at least somethin better.ever done an angled cut with a jigsaw by yourself? not so fun huh?:*******:

what do you people use to cut mdf? i need something that can cut alot of angles my jig only cuts 15, 30, and 45 degree angles

i think ill stick to just mdf it seems alot cheaper to buy and alot less time consuming that fiberglass materials

Don't worry about it. Fiberglass is tough, and many people don't even bother with it. Think of it as a learning experience and move on, that's all you really can do.

Buy a nicer jigsaw? :laugh:

As far as fiberglass help. Post pictures and we might be able to help. Ask questions and search for tutorials. Find a good fiberglass forum. My old buddy Fiberglassforum.com got shut down. Admin didnt pay the dues to keep the site up. :(

Oh well.

well i just got a free 10" bandsaw that cuts very precise angles so it should work out with the mdf

You can cut angles pretty well with a skill saw...:)

Get a good circular saw. Not as efficient as a quality table saw, but much cheaper and can make as good of quality cuts if you know what you're doing. As far as angles, I think 15, 30, and 45 is the norm for most saws out there.

the few times i have tried cutting angles with a jig saw was trimming some edges at a 15 degree angle and they just came out all wavey an crap and its pretty hard when your doin it by yourself

i use cingular saws when i make my boxes...battery opperated is my fav, no cords in the way. only used a table saw twice first time i did a 1x6 came back and hit me in the goobers :( haha!

practice, practice, practice.... FG is a great skill and is worth the effort and education you get from the experience.... I dont see it as a failure if you at least tried, keep going, read up on it, watch dvd's about fiberglassing, ask questions.

I cant wait to do my own... one consitent thing I hear is how frustrating it is but the results are amazing.
