i need some 5.25" comps..but i dont want to cut up the new car just yet so im thinking a set of comps with a coaxial tweeter mount option should hold me over, until i decide to make some kickpanels. not sure how many options are out there, alot of the ones ive seen are quite expensive.

i was thinking these cdts for 224?

thats about the top of my price range right now. are there any other ones similar to that that wont cost an arm and a leg?:crap:

I was debating for a while which speaker type to get, coax or comp. I decided I didn't want to cut up my interior and went with Crystal SSX615's. The tweeter is attached to a bridge that spans the basket and is not removable, but I'm not too worried about getting components now. Deadened the doors really well(about 30-35 ft per door), and these speakers sound ******! I can't believe the bass and midbass coming out of two 6.5's. The tweeters have a really nice balance, not harsh and not too soft. Pretty good imaging considering they're in the stock speaker location. I got them for $95 shipped per pair. You can get the 5.25 version for $105 at infinitecaraudio. Won't have as much bass from them, but I think they're a helluva deal. http://www.infinitecaraudio.com/cgi-bin/icastore.cgi?user_action=detail&catalogno=SSX510

ETA- BTW, they're running off an eD 9.4 that I plan on bridging to feed them more power.

6.5s > 5.25s Never did like 5.25s. Just cut the sheet metal, its not like it will be seen, and its easy to do.

I'd love to try the 8's sometime in the future...

Well, with the silk dome tweets if they were on axis.
