One of thoes daytons with 240w in a good, low tuned, ported enclosure should be more than enough to rock your dorm room with out pissing people off. :)

Does your receiver have a sub out? Just checking.....
Other than that, the right box and it should get the job done just fine....

I just ordered the dayton 12" 150w sub from parts express the other day. It was on sale for $120.

nope, I want to get an amp with high-level inputs
That'll work too, some plate amps have that option right on them.... Might be something to consider....

been thinking about downgrading my sub system a little bit cause im in need of $$$ right now ;[
The sub is awesome;) I wish i could use it to its full potential but I cant have the neighbors pissed. Its really overkill for my room but im loving it.
It had good reviews from the avs forum if that matters. But for $140 im verry pleased.

dayton 12" rs and a 350w plate amp, probably gonna sell em and pick one of those other ones later on..could really use the extra $$ right now..

I'm running one of the Tangband 8's off 100w and it gets people to drop their jaws at the output it has for just an 8"....
