He cornered me, so I would like as much explaining on why BOSE ***** and why BOSE is good. Post pics of internals if youd like for proof, but please try to back up your replies. thank you and let it begin:laugh:

They sound mediocre at best. Most people don't realize it because they just plain havn't heard better.

"In their Acoustiass (oops, I meant to say "acoustimass") 5.1 speaker set up, they use 5 small tweater pairs (all cardboard with foam surrounds, costs about 5 bucks to make), with a sub that has either 2 or 3 5 1/4 inch "woofers".
There are 3 things that make this setup vastly inadequate: One, without a true center channel speaker in the bose setup (one that has decently sized speakers), you are missing out on 40% of your sound (all in your midranges too). If you search around the net, you can actually find the specs for the frequency ranges, which proves this. Also, small speakers (especially ones that are cardboard with foam surrounds) are not meant to handle any midrange or bass frequencies. Two, having 2 or 3 smaller 5.25 inch woofers does not add up to the equivalent of 1 10, 12, or 15 inch woofer. The bigger magnet in real subwoofers gives you a much different type of sound, and a lot more base. You end up hearing where the subwoofer is located in the room, which you are not supposed to be able to do. Three, Bose claims that by bouncing the sound off walls and in their woofer box, they are creating more sound and acoustic presence. While this may be true, any sound engineer will tell you that walls are supposed to absorb sound, not reflect it. This leads to an inaccurate surround sound environment, and bad seperation of frequencies."

snagged that from http://www.retailworker.com/node/10435

Careful what you quote...;)

There are very, very good sounding 3" full range drivers out there. But they don't fit in little neat cubes :D

It's been nothing but sleeping and work as of late... It's on my long list of things to do.

If you need them SOON, I'd reccomend finding them elsewhere... I'll get around to it, but I have a wedding to go to and a lot of cleaning to do...

That website (which uses measurements I made for Sound & Vision) is un-tutored
ang quite misleading. For example it states that most $1300 audio systems have
frequency ranges of 15 Hz to 25 kHz. While 25 kHz is not unusual the number of
packaged commercial systems that can do a realistic 15 Hz is exactly zero.
Further the bandwidth, shape and abberation shown in those curves is quite
typical of what you get from the systems in the price range the website claims
are much better.
