Is one better than the other? (ported box or slotted)

From what I've heard, I think ported is louder, but slotted sounds better?

Correct me if im wrong :)

a slot PORTED box is a type of ported enclosure...thats like asking whats better an automobile or a car?

Aeroports=better airflow in the box=the ability to reach higher SPL levels.

why waist the money to buy a port when u can just slot than if theres no performace dif?

You guys just made my head hurt. I give up :(

i usually gain 3dB's with vented. ported is not as good due to the resistance the wood has on the airflow. when i tested it out in my wind tunnel the tests showed exactly 4killajewels of air resistance. which renders ported sucky

aero's are the way to go

get them at parts express

what is the difference from a vented enclosure and a ported enclosure??? aren't they the same or was you talking about an aeroport?

From what I've gathered from this thread... vented = aero, ported = slot for clarification reasons but technically a vented = ported in that they mean the enclosure is not sealed and that air is being transferred into and out of the box as the driver switches signal direction -- and that they are not bandpass. What would yield the best results would be to aeroport the box with the aero ports sticking outside the box... but if you don't have the space for that... aero porting would be optimum in this case most likely.

you guys are mean...

i guess you mean round ports vs. slot ports?

96civ
07-27-2006, 05:45 PM
round port = aero port... so yes

smd4life

a round port is not just an aero port, aero ports are flared at both ends

96civ
07-27-2006, 09:22 PM
Other than a small amount of displacement do the flared ends have any purpose?

Chevyaudio
07-27-2006, 09:24 PM
Yes they do.

reduces turbulance, and they are expensive.
