why not

IMO it depends on how much it costs and how much HP gain you get out of it

blaze06us
07-23-2006, 10:42 PM
well i would get 60 hp and only for 300.00

Test after test after test after test hs shown that they offer no real performance gain and those that did afford for an appreciable performance increase to any degree still were not worth the $$ they cost.

Do I think you should post in the correct section?

Yes!

You also have to factor in the alternator. It has to be able to power your electrical system, stereo system, neons, and what not. That would provide just a lil more strain on the alt.

Yea you lose HP there. Do some other mods first.
Like a performance exhaust, rather than a glass pack. Headers, cut off the cats.

waste of $, waste of time and lastely waste of space on here. if you're ranger is a 4 banger i wouldn't bother wasting any $ for performance, if it's a v6 i wouldn't waste any money on the engine i'd do a 4.6V8 swap and find room for it;).

The only '96 Ranger XLT regular cab that had a V6 was the XLT Splash and his doesn't look like the Splash ... ;)

If you're going to go forced induction, go turbo or nitrous oxide ...

hey he could have done an engine swap ya know lol;). i didn't read the year i just assumed it was newer.

I assume you meant the electric blower thingy? It's a scam man, dont waste your money. You have better chance on a leaf blower than that thing will ever generate. Bottom line is that it doesnt create enough psi to actually boost anything. The real supercharger/turbo spins 60-100K rpm; electric wont get you anywhere near that. There are dynos that show it actually loose power due to restriction of air flow.

If you really want to supercharge it, I would just wait and save your money. Then get the real supercharger and put it on

whats an electro supercharger?
linky?

Its prolly garbage but in order to force air into an engine
it has to vary CFM with engine speed......Thats why
superchargers run off an engine belt....

Cybe? Did I post something you agreed with, sir?
I have a friend who sadly falls victim to every new gadget that you can find on 20 or so different channels @ 3am on an informercial. :crap:
He swears by every new piece of crap that comes out as the be all-end all of cheap performance add-ons and sadly none of them ever work.
Me? I like to research such things prior to making a purchase.

Here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=electric+supercharger&spell=1) ya go, excelerater. Have a sit and a read if you're bored.

If it's a 4 cyl, do a performance rebuild. Hotter cam, bore it over, bigger pistons, increase the compression, find a crankshaft with a longer stroke. Port and polish the heads, port the intake manifold. Get an electric fan, underdrive pulleys for the waterpump, the PS pump (not the alt because of the system). Then you hav a performance engine, using the stock block for maximized output.

If they make a bracket kit for a 4.6, throw in a DOHC 4.6 from an early/mid 90's Cobra 0r Lincoln Mark VIII. I LOVE the sound and the powerband on those engines!!!
