View Full Version : Advice for a cheap, high quality CD player for a 2nd system?
Well, can't have vinyl in every room (can't afford it anyway :yumyum: ), so I guess I need a CD player for the 2nd system ;)
Max budget is around $200...Denon? NAD? Arcam? Rotel? Marantz? Model numbers are appreciated. SACD capability would be a plus, but not required.
Thank you in advance.

They are all going to be out of your budget Rotel about 600 and nad new the same. Arcam is retarted and I don't like Denon. Your best bet would be the Marantz CD5001 for around $300...

The comedy behind all this is..............
Hypothetical;
If this was a $1000 unit years ago, it would get high praise.
But drop the price today to $150 and people think the SQ disappeared.

Yes and no...the $1000 years ago was a price out of necessity, now the $1000 includes a hefty markup. But that doesn't mean everything at a low price point is going to be great just because the technology is stable.
There are plenty of lower-price turntables that are absolutely junk, but the technology hasn't changed a bit in the last half century...
