i want to build a ported box for my 13w7, right now it is in the jl prowedge sealed box and would like to get a little more out of it.
want to use areo ports and try and keep the box around the size i have now.
was thinking 22L x 18H x 18D = 5581.12/1728 =3.22 ft3 less .21 ft3 for the sub
now that is 3.04 ft3 internal volume.
on the 1 site i used for a calc. using 2 4" ports on a 3 ft3 box tuned to 34htz it says port lenth of 16.6" so i will assume that is 16.6" ea. (not sure)
? 1. do not know how to figure out port displacement.
? 2. will this be a good box for my sub
any help would be great

Let's see here
The 16" is for each port
Port displacement is just a matter of finding the volume of your port, then subtracting it from the volume of the enclosure. So pi*r^2*h for volume of a cylinder
Sorry can't help ya with the enclosure size, haven't dealt with too many w7's ported :)

are those outer dimension?
if so, you'll need to make the box quite a bit bigger to make up for mdf and port displacement.

those are outer dim. so i did 20.5 x 16.5 x 16.5 = 3.22 ft3
jl reccomends 2.375 for ported
i wanted to keep the box as small as i could
would a better sealed box help in my wanting more instead of the jl box

Depends, a little larger enclosure could increase efficiency but you don't want to go too far and over power it. Ported would definately make it louder. I just don't know a good size to recommend :)

Looks like you got plenty of room there my brother . Might have to mount the amps in front of the enclosure though :)

ok, with those dimensions (22 x 18 x 18) with two 4" dia 17" long ports (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=268-352) I get:
~3 ft^3 net, tuned to ~33Hz
Seems like a pretty good plan to me. I don't have experience with the driver, but it meets the manufacturer's specs quite well.
EDIT: forgot driver displacement, it actually comes to about 2.8 @ 34.5 Hz Just add an inch to the overall height (or width) and you're back to 3 @ 33Hz.
