most of the time if you have streight cuts you dont need caulk..just regular wood glue...i like titebond II...corner clamps...cut the hole for the sub before you put the top on so when you put the top on you can reach inside and fix the glue runs...

I agree with everything you said except for the circle part. I always cut out the circles after the entire thing is cosntructed and sanded. Makes for easier dust cleanup as well :p:

If you haven't tried it, you should try out Elmers' ProBond. I like it better than titebond II or III, but I can't always find it at lowes (I hate going to Home Depot because their associates are assholes).

You are using a circular saw :eyebrow:
And...

I use a circ to cut as well as my table saw. My suggestion for the OP: get a stronger saw.

I use circular saws as well. It takes a bit more preperation and time then a table saw, but it works nonetheless.

jeeper07
07-09-2006, 04:45 PM
yea the gaps are bad in spots but the ply wood i have the board on is sagging too so that causes a TINY bit but im takin care of all the gaps right now hopefully ill have it done in a few hours ?? maybe longer idk

It looks great for a first box, and don't worry about it taking along time... I mean perfection takes time, it doesn't happen over night. Take me for example, it took over 9 months to create me :)

Better than my first box...leaks FTL in mine lol....

My Second was a tad better.....it was atleast sealed. My third was good. And my current setup is pretty well built. Takes time and practice...

jeeper07
07-11-2006, 12:54 PM
i didnt save that much this time but down the road it will save me lots of money, tools and supplys and such and the learning curve on wood working soo

revrider1
07-11-2006, 12:55 PM
So you had to buy the tools this time? Yeh next time it wont cost but $20 in material for something this size.

i built twins for my first box(es) took me 2 weeks to make them....well...more like a lil more than a week for the first and the rest of the time for the second. but then again it was raining and i had to work outside. and i only have a circular saw too.

how long did it take for u to make it? looks pretty good for a first try. i think u should carpet too. not too expensive and itll look good.
