I don't have a tape measure handy so I can't go measure my trunk, but I'm thinking about replacing my two 12" Type Rs with an 18.

Was wondering what steps you recommend? I bought my current box pre-fab because I don't have woodworking skills or the tools necessary to do it.

What's a nice 18" sub that will pound with an Orion 1200D (or should I upgrade it?) and how big of a box am I looking at?

Was thinking about one of those... but what kind of dimensions for a box am I looking at? MSRP is $627, how do I find a local RE dealer?

go on RE website and find the customer service email. then email them that you want to find the nearest dealer, include full adress, they will then send u a list of all dealers.

Alright, got some dimensions maybe someone could play with...

MAX height: 16"
MAX width: 34"
MAX depth: 29"

Big enough for one 18?

if those are outside dimensions then its only gonna be about 7.5 total cuft

Those are the dimensions inside of my trunk where I could actually fit the box.

7.5 cuft good enough for an 18" SX?

Plenty.

Anything on 5-6cuft for a 18 is fine any bigger you cut back on power needs. If you want to go for a smaller amp then go 7.5 and youll be good to go and hit really low. Ive always like Big subd it 5-6cuft caust they have a tend. to move slower then smaller subs and smaller boxs help them recover faster.

If it was me I would do 4.5-5 cuft after all is said and done.

Alright, sounds good... now, an Orion 1200D will push this SX, right? Anyone in Florida willing to build me a box?

That size sounds good. I had my 18" in around 7.5 (external), and then I tried an 11.5 (external) box, and the 7.5 was waaaay louder.

Looks like this week's paycheck is going toward an 18" and enclosure!

I found a local RE dealer, they want $499 for the 18" SX. I'm gonna purchase it and head over to iamamp3pimp's house (thanks for the referral vetkilr) a few hours away and work on putting it in together. I REALLY need my spare tire, so I think what his plan is is to glass the tirewell and put the spare tire on/behind the box. All I know is, it's going to be a project!!!

My sub will be as big as my rims, hahaha... I hope the Orion 1200D powers it nicely!

Probably better to pay the extra to get it new and trouble free. I hate buying things that I have to fix/get fixed.
