I've had these for about a year and a half and never showed them to my caraudio.com peeps. Below are a few pictures of Monitor Audio's "Car 6" component system. As some of you may know Monitor Audio is a British company that makes very high end speakers for the home. http://www.monitoraudio.com/products/gold_signature/series/gs_60.htm

They must have decided that this car audio thing would be worth a shot so they created a line of auto speakers that was short lived.

Here's the box: British People are Patriotic :)

Everythnig packed neatly inside and labeled:

Group photo!

The grill on the mid has the Monitor logo stamped into it.... kind of interesting.

The back of the mid:

..finally Monitor's **** tweeter :yumyum:

Hope you all learned something you didn't know before :D

 that's a good question. I bought em because they were reasonably priced and I knew before hand Monitor's reputation. I have a feeling that they sound pretty friggin' good lol.

I thought about buying them at the time......but I couldn't find any decent reviews to even give me a moderate idea of how they sounded.

Listened to them yet?

I'll sell them if your wallet is bigger than your brain ;)

Hintzyboy
12-14-2006, 10:05 PM
I highly doubt that's possible. I just noticed you said you found them "reasonably priced". Granted, that term is relative, but I figured I'd ask what you wanted for them.

Considering the likely brain weights of some of the frequent posters here on our fair forum that requirement may still only net you about 12 cents or so :fyi:

Didn't see this post until recently. They do look good.

I've owned MA Silver i's and demoed the Gold some years ago. But ultimately I found that British speakers (MA, B&W, etc.) are not to my taste. For the most part, the Brits like their details in metal domes and Monitors gives it to you in spades. The trade off is narrow dispersion and are very directional. To my ears, I've found them to be ear piercing after 45mins of listening -- I ended up selling my Silvers and MA never impressed me again. MA Golds are high end but not ultra high end like B&W Nautilus, Revel Ultimas, Dali Euphonias, etc.

If you like silk tweeters and hate metal domes, I HIGHLY suggest you demo the MAs before purchase. While I love their cabinetry, their sound is an aquired taste.

These are for sale now. I'm going in different directions with my install and I want to stop hoarding audio equipment.

Never have been used, looking for $300 Shipped.

I'll make a Classified thread a little later.

*edit* I did some searching and saw that these have sold for less. But given their rarity I'm going to stick at my original price for the time being.

7" isn't that uncommon... They look great but I don't like the grill, makes the mid woofer look cheap.

Very nice looking! Got them home tonight woohoo! Took the grills off with ease. They are very well built and the tweeters are amazing looking. Crossover guts are pretty... basic but that can be a good thing! Will know more about how they sound in the next few weeks.

Yes, give us a review.

I'd like to know your impressions, especially since your very familiar with the sound quality of the Aura MR line.

BTW still amazed at my MR62s (2years later!)

I will def give a good review... auras on standby to go right back into the car if they are not my taste!!! Will give them good time to break in like everyone says about monitor speakers so we will see how they sound then...

Hintzyboy

I call dibs on the mids if they are not your taste LOL.

02-16-2007, 11:03 PM
Haha I would never part a set like this that is this rare. If that time ever comes which I hope it does not "need the auras for my 4 runner" then they will be sold as a complete set.

Oh and thanks for meeting up with me last night to snag this set beat! Very cool to see ya again. Will have to do a lunch or another az meet in the near future.
