Just wondering if I should mount my amps on the sides of my new box or just build them racks. I heard something about the vibrations can hurt them....

Assuming the sub enclosure it fastened securely somehow and doesn't slide around / bang around in your trunk (or wherever the enclosure is...I don't know what you drive) I cannot see that the amp being attached to to sub box is going to expose it to anymore vibrations than it would being mounted anywhere else close to the sub(s).
I have had amps mounted directly to a sub enclosure in the past with no adverse affects.
If it works best for you and your intended mounting space then I say go for it

I never liked it becuase it makes a thief very happy. They have subs, amps, and box all in one nice package. Now if you have a 6 cube box and you have to wiggle your nose and twitch your left pinky toe to get it out of your trunk than you should be fine.

that's true I didn't think about that. But right now I'm mainly concerned with the effects on the amps. I will probably secure the box down to the trunk...good ole heavy link chain in the back lol

I have mounted many amps to sub boxes and as long as it is secure and you cant sit there and watch the sides of the box flex, you will be just fine mounting it there.

i don't think that there is anything wrong with it, i just don't like how it looks. unless the amp is mounted in back and unseen, then it looks just fine ;)

Most of the boxes I build are too heavy for the casual thief to take out, plus I use spanners when installing the subs, so I don't see any problem with mounting the amp on the back. Once the thief realizes that it cannot be taken out, or the setup would be compromized by taking it out, they'll either walk away or just damage the **** (better than losing it all).

I was planning on mounting one amp on each side...which would be pretty visible but also a lot easier than building seperate racks for each amp....now I'm torn between ease of install and asthetic quality

It would look good if the amps were resessed into the box, for example if you wanted an amp on top make the top of your actual box shorter than the sides, back, and face by the thickness of the amp, then mount your amp and wire it up attached to the top, then make a "false" top that is cut out to go around the top of you amp that sits flush with the top of the amp. If you do something like this just be sure it doesn't have cooling issues.

I think I'm just gunna build the seperate racks...It will look better
