Tiny XP is the stripped down version of XP Pro.

I works fine w/networking, bluetooth, IE, Outlook Express, etc....
It just has all the stuff you don't need stripped out.

It boots in 2-5 seconds! VERY small install on your hard drive too!

Give it a shot!

think it would be usable on a laptop?

Yes, it would work but there might be some services missing you might want.
You could reinstall (I think) the things missing.

Make sure if you do backup your stuff so if you had to go back to your old install you could.

Extract all the files to one folder then use Nero to burn it.

All I have is Dragon Burn. The cd wont boot after burning. I cant figure out why.

I think you have to burn it as a .img
Look around at http://softex.meganet.lt or http://newsgarden.net/
and find the latest Nero and download it.
Nero is all I use to burn with. Unless I'm going to copy a DVD then I use DVD FabPlatinum.

Give it a shot!

Im doing pretty much all I did before... except... no fast user switching which is when u could log in and switch users without having to log out.... No firewall, MS office works dine. No built in CD burning [I use nero anyhow] The menu wont show the programs u use most of the time, but thats fine with me.... and no windows media player.... u have to install it... no defrag tool, but lots of free ones everywhere, system tools is a bit different.... u cant check the dxdiag command in RUN, oh and it doesnt include windows movie maker, but i use Adobe premier.... basically all thats different. No security center... so just install ur fav ani-virus and ur good. No updates thu windows update... but otherwise... its all good for ME... :) Im lovin it cuz its fast and has a small footprint on ram.

IMO, TinyXP is crap. It was designed for regular computer users and was not catered for advanced users. I've used 2 different revisions (including the newest one) and I've BSODed within a week. Not to mention, since Windows is extremely stripped down, there won't be the necessary files for some programs to run correctly resulting in crashes/instability. Save the time and use the real XP.
