Im still struggling with an idea of where to put the amp, Im thinking about just putting an amp rack on one of the sides but I really want to put it down in my spare tire area to hide it, but I kinda need the spare lol. Theres no room anywhere on the box either so Im kinda stuck, and I need the trunk space.

Im not even 100% sure that its the right size, but I just used the specs of the RL-P, ~13.825 inches in diameter.

False floor the amp in front of the box, looks like you got enough room. Then red felt the false floor FTW!

I think that Im gonna end up either putting the amp in the middle at an angle, or at one of the sides, but Im gonna have to wait until I get it to figure it out.

Avas gonna be sittin in 3.1 cube after displacment tuned to 27Hz, that 18 slammed. I was runnin it off a refurbed Orion 1200D but it was probably barely pushin 800wrms @ 1ohm, but off my buddies modded 1501d it was rediculious. Even with it cancelling out a little bit, and being tuned to 29Hz with 101sq in of port area it hurt to listen to it.

UPDATE!!! Got the sub installed and all the wiring were I need it, just waitin on the amp to arrive to wrap this up. I took out my backseat and found that I have room to put the amp on the back of the box, which is awesome cuz now I got a ton more trunk space. The only problem is that the cover panel was a little tight in one of the corners and I busted it putting it in. It was raining and I was in a hurry, now I just caused more problems by rushing and now I have to make another panel. Oh well, now I can make one that fits a little better around the port and the left side. I also used a can of Great Stuff on my trunklid, worked out excellent, I just sprayed it between the two layers of sheet metal and I think it is going to help a lot of the rattles.

That shows how close this **** thing is to fitting, gotta take off the trunk latch and seal for it to slide in and out, almost worse than my box for my 18.

That is AWESOME!

That's exactly what I want to do with my 2, 12" Assassin's. Right now they're in 1.25 cubes each, sealed and I just want them louder. I love the clean look of the front panel. Did you just do a cardboard template and then jigsaw it?

Is the Great Stuff a mess to work with? I really need something between the sheet metal on my trunk lid, it rattles a ton.

Its pretty messy, not too horrible though, just have some paper towel and rubber gloves. Yeah I used a cardboard template and jigsawed most of it. The next step is gonna be some raamat to go over that, probably in a week or two.

What kind of Mids you got running?

Nothing yet, too broke to buy anything lol. I planned on gettin a nice sq sub, with a decent amp to run it, then running a set of poly's off whatever amp I could find for them, but that all kinda fell apart when I bought a Merlin MD2 lol. Ill just have to wait a little longer until I get the cash together.

Got the amp installed today and wow!!! I'm extremely impressed with this, I may mess around with a couple other box designs and see what I can do but it sounds so crisp and clean, and **** this thing gets low. Excellent sound quality and it still gets as loud as I would ever want it to. Heres a pic and a little vid we shot.

how do you know the wattages it puts out at each gain setting?

MikeyB

how do you know the wattages it puts out at each gain setting?

Taking the square root of power times resistance, so 900x1=900, square root of 900=30. So I connected my volt meter to the speaker terminals, ran a 35Hz tone through my cd player and adjusted the gain till the volt meter read 30 volts.

xluben
07-07-2006, 10:24 PM
interesting, so that method could be used to set the gains?
