What they looked like before in the sealed kicks...

Dirty *** door, had to clean that **** up.

Cleaned it up.

Left door done. Took about an hour per door, with double layers near the speaker hole.

Right

I made sure to take the time to do inside the panel as well, turned out really good. I used about 25 sq feet on each door, inside the panel and outside the panel.

I used some non-hardening clay to support around the baffles. Works really good to seal the opening.

I'm pretty happy with the finished product. I may move the tweeters around and tweak with it a little more, but overall, it went pretty well.

Brown bread, and yeah I'm white.

My sealed kicks were just getting in the way of e-brake and my passengers kept complaining about foot room... :slap:

Summer's coming up, tons of trips to the lake and stuff, so people need their foot room, plus it was something I've been wanting to do for a while. I've got another front stage project coming up, so we'll see how that turns out.

Nice speakers :)Yup, that's the next on the to-do list...

The main difference is a bit less punchy in the mid region, but I adjusted the x-over to about the high 60hz region, where it was about 75'ish before. My doors still flex a little bit, but overall, they seem to get a bit lower in the doors as well.

The tweeters are in a better location, so they are a lot clearer sounding than before. I'll be trying out a few more locations with them soon (double sided tape FTW).

Hey how do you like your Z6's!? I've had mine for a little while and I can't seem to get the SQ I really wanted out of them. I might be doin' somethi'n wrong but I don't think so!

I was going to put them in kick panels too....how did you like them down there did they get more response in the sealed kick panel?

-Nick-Well they have been very good to me. I always read reviews about their midbass just being "average" for such a high end speaker. I really liked the response from them in the kick panels, but they have showed some balls in the midbass range so far in the doors. Kick panels generally sound better in the midbass region, but my tweeters seemed to get a little drowned out by road noise down there. Moving them up to the doors makes them sound so loud and so clean.

The only problem I have with the Z6's is that the tweeter gets a little "tingy" when you crank them. A certain note on a guitar riff on certain songs make the tweeter sound a tiny bit scratchy, but it's barely noticable.

Dont you love the rather astute observations our forum members come up with?

Doors look good, Allstar........the more I look at them, the more I want to go finish mine.
Go to hell, today was supposed to be a lazy day.

If you finish sealing your door holes it should have more midbass than your kick panels...

I have a sport trac and the doors look almost identical. I did my doors a while back. If you seal the large holes and put egg crate behind the speakers to break up any reflections you will most definitely get more mid-bass.

did you ever end up sealing the holes? if so, how'd you do it?

shouldve used clay where the speaker meets the baffle...

ohwell.

not really, those kickpanels were a small sealed enclosure. He probably had a very peaky responce, especially in the midbass region, and maybe an octave or 2 up. He'll get better low end out of the doors. However subbass from your mids is NOT midbass!
