My new Comps.

Well guys i current have MB quart 5.25 Discuss series.. and i am disapionted with them...

Im am looking at the following

Boston Pro60 $305
Alpine Type X $225
MTX TXC6.1 $250
JL XR650-CSI $225

Those are all rough prices on ebay after shipping.. All i have to spend is $250 so what would you guys recommend?

I am looking for speakers with good midbass (which my mb quarts dont have) and warm highs (my mbquarts kill my ears!).. I mostly listen to Rock and Metal Music..

after checking amazon.com i found out i can purchase Boston Pro60's and Alpine Type X speakers..

After using my gift certificate i could get

Pro60 $210
Pro50 $168
TypeX $76

What shold i get???

im in the process of getting the type-x comps, since i was impressed w/ the r comps. im putting my Rs in the backseat to replace my kappas.

If you like a brighter sounding set i would get the bostons, If you want a laid back natural sound i would get the type x. personally i prefer the type x

sonic electronix has all of those for close to those prices, except apparently they don't have Pro60s anymore.

Try the Q series or Premium line of the Quarts. I have the Q line and my cousin has the Boston Pro60's and the Q line blows them away.

Yep, same SUV (Yukon), my amp Clif Design cd3.2lx 150x2, his amp phoenix gold 120x2 and yes the same songs. I had the Pro60's and they are good but i thought the Quarts sounded better.

The Bostons are looking good for the price.

The MTX have a lot of midbass potetial... I have a couple sets of the old DEI Viper components with the similar 4.8mm xmax and I can tell you they have twice the midbass of competing speakers.

yeah big difference in price 500 adverage for the q line and 350 - 370 for the bostons big difference and big price difference.

I have the QSC 216's and they sound pretty darn good, and also you can get the QSC 216 for $325 shipped to your house (brand new). They also have a warranty on them too. You can get them from www.finestdeals.com. I listen to everything from rap to country and they sound good with all kinds of music. If they are a little harsh for you just hook the tweeters up to -3db or -6db.

If those are the choices then Id say the Bostons. Although which have you actually heard? Which do YOU like?

ahhhhhh ok...I want the QSC 216...the 216's are the comps, and have the better looking cap and crossover.

Nick...I would get the Pro60's...sell them (new) on Ebay (or here) to get your gift certificate money back. Then take that money and buy the Rainbow SLC's.

I had all mb quart speakers but just this week my first pair of focals came. I got a 6.5 polyglass set. AMAZING, they seriously blow any speaker ive really listened to away.

Ya I would certainly recommend getting a pair, I decided to spend a bit more and I now know it is truly worth it, I just cant stop listening to them.
